After exploring Chanderi Museum, we went to another beautiful historical site of Chanderi - Koshak Mahal.
Koshak mahal is an ancient palace structure whose gateways are main attraction. It is a square shaped multi-storyed building with so many gateways with arches which make it unique structure and distinguishes it from other monuments of Chanderi. MP Road Trip 2.0
Post-13, Day-6
We were woken up at 6:30 in the morning by a thunder strike. It hasn’t stopped raining since past two days and we were desperately hoping it to stop by the time we reach our next destination, Chanderi. We took a tour of the property we were staying in, because we reached here last night just after sunset and couldn’t explore much. Thereafter, We got ready, packed our stuff, had breakfast and left for Chanderi by 9:00 AM. On the way we had narrow escapes from road blockades due to some overflowing Nalas and safely reached Chanderi by 1:30 PM.
Chanderi Museum was located on the road side just before the entrance to Chanderi and we stopped there, had a cup of tea to celebrate some sunshine finally. Chanderi Museum have some beautiful artefacts on display apart from other historical evidences discovered in Chanderi and some of these artefacts are even displayed in open where photography is allowed. We took our own sweet time to explore this place before heading out to next one.

From Sanchi, we drove for a little under half an hour to reach Udaigiri Caves amid light drizzle. We only had half an hour to explore the caves, before it closes.

Udaigiri Caves, also known as the Vidisha Caves, are a group of rock-cut caves located in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh. The caves date back to the 5th century CE and contain some of the earliest known examples of Gupta art & architecture. Known for their elaborate carvings and sculptures, these caves depict scenes from Hindu mythology.

At sunset, after exploring the caves, we reached our stay for tonight at Udaigiri , MPT Jungle Resort, which is a secluded property located in the middle of a forest.

By the time we reached Sanchi Stupa, drizzling stopped for a while. We were amazed to see first glimpse of the place, we had read so much about in history books. Sanchi Stupa was built in 3rd century BCE by great Mauryan Emperor Ashoka to house relics of Gautam Buddha. It’s a huge complex, housing stupas of different sizes surrounded by beautiful gardens, relics of monasteries, beautiful carved stupa gates depicting scenes from life of Buddha and so much more. Don’t miss to trek down to see isolated Stupa 2.

It hadn’t stopped pouring since last night. When we saw no sign of reprieve from rainfall, we checked out of Noor Us Subah Palace and headed out to our next stop - Sanchi. It was just 1.5 hours drive and we drove slowly hoping for the rain to stop, but it didn’t. On the way, we crossed Tropic of Cancer and stopped capturing some memories. Amid continuous rainfall, we reached Sanchi and decided to explore Archaeological Museum of Sanchi. It has some beautiful artefacts collected from nearby archeological sites and the complex also has a beautiful bungalow of Sir John Marshal - the person responsible for excavating the Sanchi Stupa.

Post-7, Day-4
We woke up early for an hour long drive from Bhopal to see an ancient temple. The Bhojpur Temple, also known as the Bhojeshwar Temple, is an 11th-century temple located on the banks of the Betwa River, about 28 kilometers from Bhopal. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its impressive size, although it’s in unfinished state.
The temple was commissioned by King Bhoja of the Paramara dynasty, but the construction was never completed. Today, the temple stands as a testament to the grandeur of ancient Indian temple architecture.
Thereafter we came back to Bhopal while having breakfast on the way, checked out of Hotel and went to explore an impressive memorial dedicated to armed forces - Shaurya Smarak.

It was late afternoon, and we went to one of the highest points of Bhopal - Tekri for a birds eye view of Upper Lake and Bhopal City. One can drive upto this point or take a ropeway. There is a beautiful Jain temple and a cafe at top. We found a calm spot overlooking Bhopal City and ordered some snacks. Thereafter, we came to Lake Club Bhopal for Sunset. Lake club was crowded, so we walked a little and found a spot for ourselves to watch a mesmerising sunset over Upper Lake (Bada Talab). For dinner, we went to Wind and Waves, a restaurant with one of the best views in Bhopal. While we were having dinner, it started pouring heavily and we had to run inside with our plates. After dinner, we came back to our hotel and called it a night.

We started a week long MP road trip in the end of monsoons to explore Bhopal and nearby destinations including Chanderi. It was a 8 hours long drive covering over 400 kms on day 1 to reach a beautiful property of Madhya Pradesh Tourism located right on the Tawa Dam and in middle of a forest. Plan was to reach Tawa at lunch time as both lunch & dinner were included in our stay. So, we started at around 7 in the morning and reached Tawa just after lunch time, while enjoying beautiful lush green landscapes. After checkin, we had lunch and then explored this beautiful property MPT Tawa Resort. Location of this property is 10/10 and it has a very peaceful and laid back vibe. We also enjoyed a speed boat ride in Tawa Dam and then spent a calm and cosy evening with this beautiful view.
