Welp.....we got stuck in the muckiest sticky mud/clay you'll ever come across 😅 we woke up expecting an amazing day of rockhounding only to cross what we thought was a small puddle...twas not. After getting stuck and digging in. We tried to dig the van out and use our maxx traxx. Only to hit a water vein that flooded our already mucky puddle...followed by two thunder storms of rain 😬
After hours of labor we finally got a pull out! Whew crisis averted. However we learned many things on this trip.
1. We need different steps as the ones we have currently didn't allow enough clearance to use the maxx traxx effectively on the front tire.
2. We need more maxx traxx...at least one for each tire ideally.
3. New walkie talkies. We had to walk over a mile and a half to get service for help. And the walkie talkies would have come in handy during the mud raining up from the spin of tires.
4. We are not quite ready to take the van to west Africa lol we need more off road set ups.
5. Even if it looks like a small puddle walk it...make sure before you push on...if we had walked out we would have sunk in the mud just in our shoes and could have saved ourselves 9.5 hrs of pain and heartache
