If you didn’t get a tank top from the women’s whitewater rafting weekend or want one, let me know your size and address! A bit of the proceeds are going to this years Guide Olympics, which is a yearly fundraiser for our river community up here in Western Maine. In the past, donations to Guide Olympics have been able to provide:
-Backboards and a satellite phone for increased safety on the river
-Affordable swift water rescue courses for guides
-Financial aid for raft guides and community members going through hard times

This design is also created by Liz Rose Deleo, a local Maine artist with incredible talent 💛

Tanks are $35 and I can ship it right to you if you aren’t close by 🙂

“🎶The best thing about bein’ a woman, is the prerogative to have a little fun 🎶”

This past Saturday, we hosted our third annual Women’s Whitewater Rafting Day with North Country Rivers! We got to take 50 women down the river, many for their very first time! The glitter, tutus, fun sunnies, and lunch by the river were icing on the cake of getting to spend the entire day with so many kind-hearted, adventure-seeking, strong badass ladies! Same time next year 😘

This was also the largest event we have hosted so far and while it was a ton of work, it was worth every bit of it. We got to reunite with a lot of friends that I hadn’t seen in a while and meet so many wonderful new ladies! Thank you to everyone who came and was a part of it, and especially to all of our wonderful badass female raft guides. You all inspired a lot of women this weekend, myself included 💛

Things I was told later on:

“This reinvigorated my spirit”
“Today was the most fun I have ever had while whitewater rafting”
“Everybody was so nice and welcoming!”
“This was my favorite day of the whole summer”

If you haven’t signed up for the Women’s Whitewater Rafting Day 2024 yet, now’s the time to hop on the trip 🙂

Call North Country Rivers @ 1-800-348-8871 and tell them you want to join The Girls Trip 2024 (Even if you know me personally and have told me you want to come, please call to sign yourself up 💛)

Women’s Whitewater Rafting Day!

When: Saturday August 10th
Where: Bingham, ME @ North Country Rivers
Cost: $132pp (rafting + lunch)

We are doing our women’s whitewater rafting day for the third summer in a row! This event grows and gets bigger each year with more fun and more friends 🙂 We will be rafting the Kennebec River in Maine, a 12 mile stretch of river with Class II-IV rapids. This river is beginner friendly and no previous rafting experience is necessary, though this river is a blast even for those who have been rafting before. Lunch will be provided on the river this year (GF, veg/vegan accommodations available).
You can come by yourself, or with a friend, your mom, daughter, girlfriend, wife, you name it!

Fun outfits are encouraged and make for great photos in the rapids! Tutus, funky sunglasses, fun shower caps over helmets, bright colored wigs/lipstick, even dresses make the river even that much more fun 🤩

EXTRA IMPORTANT: To book your spot, please let me know first that you will be attending, and call North Country Rivers (800-348-8871) to get added to our trip. Tell them you are with The Girls Trip, otherwise you will be added in with random rafting guests rather than our specific girls trip.

Lodging is available at North Country Rivers in cabins or tent camping, and can be coordinated with other guests attending (I can help with that).

I will be the lead guide on this trip and we will have all female guides for the event 🙂

We are BACK from another incredible backpacking trip of the Trans Catalina Trail and kayaking at Channel Islands National Park! 🌴 This trip gets better and better each time, with the weather, the people, the scenery, and the flow of the itinerary.

⛺️We completed all 38.5 miles of the TCT, along the way enjoying pleasant weather, pushing ourselves up tough climbs, rewarding ourselves with Catalina Airport food (if you know you know), relishing in incredible sunsets, campfire s’mores and beach camping, beautiful wildflowers and grasses, and the company of 8 wonderful souls from all over the country.

🌊After Catalina, we got ourselves all showered and rested before heading out to Channel Islands National Park during a gale warning, which in itself was an adventure. We kayaked in and out of sea caves and kelp forests, along the way viewing sea lions, harbor seals, dolphins, sooo many birds, massive crabs, potentially a baby elephant seal, and we even saw whale spouts at sunset!

🌅 We topped the trip off with charcuterie and a sunset hike to Potato Harbor, and luckily got off the island a little early the next day thanks to a brave captain, before no boats ran for the next couple of days due to the winds and high seas.

💛Thank you to everyone who joined this trip and made it unforgettable. You are all brave, capable, strong in so many ways, silly as heck, and I am glad to know ya!

✨We’ll be back to Catalina October 11-18 this fall and WE HAVE 1-2 SPOTS LEFT!! If you’re interested, shoot us a message. Beginning backpackers are welcome and gear rental is available 🥾✨

You can come by yourself, but you’re probably gonna cry when you get back to the airport while hugging all your new girlfriends good bye.

If it’s not the airport hugs that getcha, it’ll be the heart to heart convos while sitting cross legged on the floor listening to each other open up about what led us to adventuring with strangers.

If it’s not the airport hugs or the heart to hearts, it’ll be the belly laughs that hit so hard you laugh til you cry.

If it’s not the airport hugs or the heart to hearts or the belly laughs, the views have brought a tear to the eye a time or two.

Come travel with us to see for yourself the feels of traveling with strangers to beautiful locations experiencing incredible activities. We’re just a bunch of women, all different ages and backgrounds, all going through it, and choosing to experience life to its fullest.

You deserve to be here 💛

We are back from Alaska and I still haven’t totally found all the words to recap the trip! It was just wonderful 💛 The weather did everything we needed it to do at the right times ❄️ Our guests were top notch 🏔️ The food was delicious, and the views were out of this world 🌄

We did a little bit of everything: skiing, snowboarding, sightseeing, dog sledding, snowmobiling, glaciers, yoga, delicious food, heart to heart girl talk.

I treasure every moment I get to spend in Alaska. It’s become such a special spot for us, and we love sharing that with our guests.

We’ll be headed back to this beautiful place March 2025 for another all-inclusive retreat. If you are interested in joining, please know this trip is best suited for intermediate to advance skiers and snowboarders, this trip is what we call “non-après focused”, and it is an itinerary full of the best winter activities you can experience in Alaska!

Let us know if you want to join so we can add you to the list of “first to know” when the 2025 trip opens for booking.

If you didn’t get a tshirt from Girls Ride Day and still want one, or if you weren’t at this event or have never even ridden Sugarloaf but just love the amazing artwork by Liz Rose Deleo, I have 2 smalls and 2 mediums left! They are $30 and I can get them to you this week 🙂 Would love to get these out to some people to support the movement and make room for some other The Girls Trip Adventure Co. apparel 🖤

Yesterday was so incredible that I have hardly any photos of my own to show for it 😂 But we will have our professional shots from our Sugarloaf photographers soon, and I’m so excited to share them!

Girls Ride Day 2024 was fulfilling on every level; it was full of connection and female friendship, new faces and old acquaintances, snowboarding so hard that my legs and butt hurt this morning, yummy beverages and food, support from friends, businesses, and the Sugarloaf community, and uplifting for each and every guest.

I loved every part of yesterday, but honestly, ending the day at Winterstick and getting to see how the boards are made, mingle and talk with everyone, and even take a board home to play with was the icing on the cake for me.

I love this event every year and although I have less on my shoulders now that it’s over, I’m already looking forward to next year!

A quick shoutout to our event sponsors: these people & businesses hosted, supported, donated, and helped this event be as beautiful as it was.

I can’t forget to thank the departments at Sugarloaf who played a special part in making this a smooth and special day for us! Our ski patrol team for keeping us safe, and our lift ops department for running the quad early just for us so we could get first tracks and enjoy Tote Road corduroy by yours truly.

Last but not least, the biggest of thank yous to Steve Smith for being the most helpful and supportive partner I could ever dream of. You are 10/10!

We LOVE repeat guests!! Whether that’s on our single day events to Women’s Rafting Day or Girls Ride Day, or if it’s on a multi day trip. From left to right, Alison joined us for Alaska and the Trans Catalina Trail, Zoe has joined us for the Trans Catalina Trail twice and will also be headed to Alaska with us this year, and Sue came to the Smokies with us and then the Trans Catalina Trail just a few months later! Repeats guests are a testament to the fact that this is good, we’re doing something right here, and that women need other women and adventure in their lives 💛

Our favorite trip is back for two rounds this year! We’ll be visiting for the wildflowers and green fields in April, plus the cooler temps and fewer crowds of October. On this trip, we tackle all 39 miles of the Trans Catalina Trail over 5 days, then head to Channel Islands National Park to kayak through sea caves, enjoy sunset clifftop charcuterie and wine, plus camp under the stars at one of the least visited parks. This trip will push you in all of the best ways and offers incredible wildlife sightings including bison, foxes, shore birds, dolphins, seals, and sometimes even whales.

Days 4 & 5 of the Catalina Trail! Up and over a massive climb/descent hiking out of Two Harbors and into Parsons Landing where we camped on the sand right by the ocean, again 😍 We had a nice fire complete with s’mores, and a smooth easy hike back to our ferry to the mainland.

Best part of this: everyone made it the entire trail!

I’m so proud of each and every one of these women for accomplishing such a wonderful and challenging trail.

Days 2 & 3 on the Trans Catalina Trail! We’re 24 miles in 🎉 We got insane views of the Pacific today so figured we might as well swim in it too 🌊 Everyone has fallen into a rhythm and it’s fun to watch the confidence build and the bonds form! Tonight, we’re on a cliff side falling asleep to the sounds of crickets, waves crashing, and sea lions barking in the distance.

Trans Catalina Trail day 1! These incredible women hiked over 11 miles today to start out our 5 day, 38 mile Trans Catalina Trail adventure. We huffed up hills, snacked overlooking the sea, and even bushwhacked around bison 🦬 For 3 of them, this is their first multi-day backpacking trip, so pretty rad of them to complete today in the crazy heat we had. Super proud of and impressed by all them 💛 Looking forward to sharing the next 30 miles together!

Our Alaska Snow + Yoga retreat is back!! This year is playing out to be even better than last year. We’ve added a few more activities to the trip, thrown in some planned relaxation time, included more yoga opportunities, planned for some yummy food, and have a structured format that leaves you stress free with none of the planning leg work (except for ripping through some Alaskan powder of course).

Guests should be friendly, open-minded and willing to partake in group activities and conversation, and ready to share a house with up to 13 other women for a week. This past weekend, I had the joy of hosting 31 women from all over New England to come raft the Kennebec River in Maine and run some class III & IV whitewater with North Country Rivers! We had an even bigger turnout than last year, filling up 4 boats. All female guides and even our badass lady bus driver Freida. Such a fun-filled inspiring day on the river getting these folks out of their comfort zones, onto the water, and into the world of outdoor recreation. I’m truly changed for the better with every event I get to host, even if it’s just for one day. Thank you to everyone who showed up for a good time. Can’t wait to do it again next year for round 3 😎 So many photos thanks to Lina Mammoth but here are some favorites!

Crossing the entire length of Catalina Island off the coast of southern California, the trail meanders up and over the highest point of the island, through fields and valleys with sightings of the wild bison which roam the island, and offers spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean from clifftop hiking. You will get the chance to camp under the stars at four different campsites, two of which sit right on the beach. Cook dinner by camp stove each evening with your new travel partners, and partake in deep, engaging conversations without the distractions of day-to-day life. After successfully traversing Catalina Island via your own two feet, jump over to Channel Islands National Park, one of the least crowded parks in the parks system. Jump in a kayak to explore sea caves, kelp forests, and untouched shoreline wile viewing unique coastal wildlife. Some of the highlight photos of our Great Smoky Mountains National Park backpacking trip!

These 6 ladies absolutely crushed it. Watching the 6 of them push their limits, discover new physical and mental strengths, and to see them be in awe of the beauty and grandeur of the Smokies has brought me so much fulfillment and joy over the past week.

Aside from that, I think we all have abs now from laughing so hard, even through the rain, cold, socked in mountaintops, climbs, and fatigue.

To be able to share such a deeply personal and special stretch of trail with a group of strangers turned friends was a gift, and I thank each one of you for trusting me to guide you through it, but I also thank you for having the guts to come spend your time in such a valuable way.

What an incredibly special group of people. We’ll be doing this one again next year! And we will be announcing our next backpacking trip before the end of the month. For a teaser, we’ll be in California at the end of October. Can’t wait to share ✨

Very accurate. Also me getting out of the car after driving home to Maine from our 5-day Smokies backpacking trip in Tennessee & North Carolina! Pictures and trip write-up coming soon.
