Memphis Must
Crosstown Concourse is a new must see in Memphis. Their Mission is : To use a building to change how people experience their lives, their neighborhood and their city by purposefully creating unexpected connections. Not bad. At the opening ceremony in 1927, Chamber of Commerce president Phil Canale spoke, comparing the new building to the pyramid of the original Egyptian city named Memphis. He added that while the pyramid of ancient Egypt was a tomb for the dead, the new Memphis structure was giving the world “a living thing for the living.” Now, it houses a high school, a theater, a church, restaurants and shops, many of which specifically welcome immigrants, women, and other marginalized communities. Amazing. My personal favorite: Srimu- vegan cheeses to die for. On Saturdays they offer a cheese plate and two glasses of wine special- do it! There is a parking garage that offers free parking on a couple levels and check out their events page to combine musical talents with your visit. #crosstownconcoursememphis #srimu #memphis
