Lunch buddy!

Meet Bambi. (OK, so I originally thought she was a he... HA!) Just strolled into our open air restaurant to join us for lunch. At a beautiful lodge overlooking the vast Sacred Valley, this serene space fuses mountains and outdoor living with Andean animals everywhere. Got to feed the llamas and alpacas, connect with nature and enjoy an authentic Peruvian lunch cooked on hot stones buried inside the earth. Pure magic.

Morning walk along the wild Atlantic coast in the south of Portugal. Easy trails meander along the spectacular sea cliffs with very few people around. Absolutely magical. Plenty of time to visit and soak in the view. The sun was intense, even in October, but the weather quickly changed to dark clouds as we made our way down to the beach. Mother Nature has her moods.

Gorgeous trail winding along the southwest coast of Portugal. Breathtaking views of rocky cliffs, deserted beaches, and coastal landscapes. There was barely anyone there! So fun to meander for hours visiting with friends, taking in the sounds of the surf crashing, feel the Atlantic breezes and smell the salty sea.

Walking, Tasting and Foodie Fun in the Algarve

1st full day in Portugal: (Just catching up on last weeks pics)

Did a long morning walk through the hills and village of Monchique. Meandered through the forest of gnarly cork trees. Portugal is the largest producer of cork in the world. Went to a mountain top with sweeping views and learned about making fresh bread and a pretty picnic lunch. Then off to taste artisanal olive oil made by a small family business in the countryside. Time for a bit of pottery shopping wandering through the alleys of town. Topped it off by visiting a distiller and learning about a local fruit brandy. So fun to sample our way through the day.

Hundreds of photos to share and stories to tell from Portugal, but this gets to the heart of everything...

Sitting in a sweet little cafe in a local village. The waiter and waitress are the owners. Their 20-something son is the cook. The warmth and hospitality is felt from the moment you arrive. Everything is homemade, even the ice cream. Passion goes into every spoonful.

Our driver Filipe joins us at lunch. After dessert and conversation, he pops out his accordion for fun and starts to serenade all of us. We're all in awe. The man has mad skills. His instrument is a true work of art and history, being 150 years old. The husband and wife owners stop waiting tables for a moment, spontaneously jump up to dance, and everyone in the cafe is absolutely enchanted.

Please enjoy this beautiful moment of joy and togetherness brought to you by the kind people of Portugal. It literally made me cry. The world need more of THIS.

Olá from Portugal!

Gotta love a scenic landing coming in. I was glued to my window. Currently up in the forested hills in the village of Monchique, famous for the healing powers of its waters. Had my first Port and Tonic cocktail tonight= a light, white port wine mixed with tonic. Who knew? Forgot to snap a pic (blotto tired), but it is very refreshing.

In the next few days we'll be hiking, boating, tasting and sipping our way around the Algarve, Portugal's southernmost region. But first... I must catch up on some sleep. G'night all.

*Big thanks to the friendly folks at Visit Portugal and Visit Algarve for this wonderful opportunity!

Fishing, Hiking, Rafting and Relaxing in Alaska

More fun client photos from their couple's adventure in Alaska. Spent 3 nights of their journey exploring and kicking back at a rustic wilderness lodge. The guys wanted to fish and the women preferred to hike. The next day they all did a scenic river float together. Everything is fully guided. Lots of time to soak up the views in the wilds of Alaska.

Thanks so much for sharing these spectacular photos Kristie Heims & Jan M. Pirc!

Moose on the Loose!

In Anchorage it's always fun to rent bikes and pedal out on the famous Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. Named for the former governor of Alaska, this scenic, flat, greenbelt ride is an easygoing way to spend half a day. Starting downtown, you wind your way through the forest overlooking the Cook Inlet with wonderful views of the Chugach Mountains. It stretches 11 miles one way from downtown to Kincaid Park. Plus there's a 60% chance of having a moose sighting. Thanks to our guest Kristie Heims for the great pics. Looks like you, Jan M. Pirc, Cory & Jim had a great front row seat!

Hooray for happy clients in Alaska!

This glacier hike was on the first full day of their 10 day journey. It's a scenic 2 hour drive from Anchorage. After time exploring the ancient ice and learning about glaciers from local guides, they got to finish with a glacial facial... making a mud mask out of the fine powdered silt. This mineral mix is amazing for your skin. (It's literally my favorite skincare product. Thanks Mother Nature.)

After the hike they were treated to a hearty lunch at a nearby rustic lodge overlooking the 27 mile river of ice. Then back to Anchorage to dip into the brewery scene. Cheers to friends spending time together!

Big thanks to Kristie Heims, Cory, Jan M. Pirc & Jim for going with me on this big adventure and for sharing your epic pics. Laura & Mike- You are definitely missed.

Reason #100 why I love this industry:

Instead of shaking hands in a conference room for a business event, we did a mountain bike ride for networking. Our fun group rode 22 miles from the Old Snoqualmie Train Tunnel, down the mountains, over the historic railroad route, to our local lake. We were greeted with appies and happy hour beers after. So many great conversations with travel friends old and new, plus plenty of sparks for new adventure ideas.

Bonus: This was right in our little home town of North Bend, WA.

Many thanks to the crew at Seattle Mountain Bike Tours, The Line MTB, Kusini Collection and the Adventure Travel Trade Association for organizing this outing. Sure beats sitting at my computer all day!

Alaska Helicopter Adventure: One of my all-time favorite experiences.

Pure awe soaring over a glacier. What a thrill to ascend vertically, gaze out the giant window and take in the mind blowing scenery. It felt like something out of a dream. As the chopper banks and zips effortlessly over the landscape, you get right up close to the mountains and diverse terrain before gently touching down. We did 3 vastly different landing sites: knee deep snow in a mountain bowl, a rocky overlook with an eternal vista and finished with these other-worldly blue melt pools. Plenty of time to walk around and explore. Even got to drink ice cold glacier water right from the pool!

Many thanks to Visit Anchorage for this incredible opportunity.

Dall's porpoise sighting on our recent Alaska adventure! These chubby little fellas are impressively fast racing next to our high speed catamaran.

Enjoyed a scenic full day cruise on Prince William Sound. Also saw sea otters, sea lions, orca whales, mountain goats and countless glaciers. Had a hearty bowl of salmon chowder to warm up and a festive cocktail made with glacier ice to cap off the day.

When in Alaska... do as the locals do.

Lots of laughs and good splashy fun. Not gonna lie, I was a bit nervous about this one... but we had brand new UTVs (single driver ATVs also available) and very capable drivers who mowed through the challenge... all women! Did I drive? Absolutely not. :)
