Mukteshwar is a village and tourist destination in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, India. It sits high in the Kumaon Hills at an altitude of 2171 meters, 51 km from Nainital, 72 km from Haldwani, and 343 km from Delhi.

It is adorned at Mukteshwar in Nainital district of Uttarakhand. The Mukteshwar town owes its name from this 350 years old Shiva temple. This hill temple is perched at an elevation of 2,312 metres above sea level and offers an enchanting view of the surreal landscape.

Fruit orchards, coniferous forests, lush green trails and narrow lanes make Mukteshwar a special destination for trekking. Apart from trekking, camping, paragliding; Mukteshwar is also known for rock climbing and rappelling. The region is full of hard rocky hills, which are suitable for rock climbing.

One can experience snowfall in Mukteshwar in the months of December and January. Even though the snowfall is sparse, it is a wonderful and magical experience.23-Dec-2019

Weather in Mukteshwar remains pleasant all through the year, so the best time to visit Mukteshwar is any time of the year. The period from the month of March to May, marks the summer season in this town. The days are warm and the nights are pretty cool with the temperature reaching a maximum of 27°C.

How many days are enough to explore Mukteshwar? Being a small picturesque town which is located within the district of Nainital, a total of 1 to 2 days are enough to explore the town of Mukteshwar.

Mukteshwar is quieter then Kausani ,so as per your requirements, kausani will suit you. However, it is strange that you are looking for hustle and bustle after travelling so much. Give your kids a chance to be all alone with you and nature, don't assume that they will get bored. My suggestion will be to go to binsar

Mukteshwar Temple is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

If you have don't get the direct bus for Mukteshwar then you can take bus for Haldwani which is nearest big city Mukteshwar. Buses are on regular basis for Haldwani from Anand Vihar ISBT. After reaching Haldwani there are many local taxis or shared vehicles that are available all the time for Mukteshwar.

*History Of Himachal Pradesh*
Himachal Pradesh was inhabited since the aurora of civilization. Indus valley civilization was the first to set its foot on the hills of Himachal Pradesh between 2250 and 1750 BC. This was followed by Mongoloids and then Aryans. Then flourished the era of dynasties, Chandragupta with his prowess took control of the republics of Himachal, and his grandson Ashoka extended his boundaries to the Himalayan region. Thakurs and Ranas reigned in the hilly terrain for a brief period until Harsha rose to power in the early 7th century. After his death in 647 AD, many Rajput rulers fought amongst themselves, few moved to Rajasthan while defeated ones ascended to Himachal. Mughals reinstated their hold at the beginning of the 10th century with the entry by Mahmud Ghaznavi who first conquered Kangra. Timur and Sikander Lodi made their way to Himachal through the lower hills and fought many battles and took charge of several forts.

With the downfall of the Mughal dynasty, the Katoch rulers of Kangra grew up to prominence and Kangra regained independence status under Maharaja Sansar Chand who ruled for nearly half a century. Under the leadership of Amar Singh Thapa, Gorkhas from Nepal began to expand their territory and took over Sirmour and Shimla. After defeating Sansar Chand in 1806 they finally captured Kangra, however, they failed to capture Kangra fort and in 1806 Maharaja Ranjeet Singh took charge of the fort. By 1858, the region came under the British Crown. Then began the independence movement with Mandi conspiracy in 1914-15, the Pajhota agitation in 1942. Post-independence Himachal Pradesh was declared as Union Territory and later hill areas of Punjab were merged in Himachal. The State of Himachal Pradesh Act was passed by Parliament on 18th December 1970 and on 25th January 1971 Himachal Pradesh was listed as the eighteenth state of India.

*Kullu Dussehra Himachal*
A week long carnival that celebrates the death of the demon Ravana at the hands of Lord Rama in the Hindu epic Ramayana, the Kullu Dussehra marks an important occasion in the lives of the people here. With more than 4 lakh people flocking to the spectacular abode of Kullu in Himachal Pradesh to celebrate this iconic festival that celebrates the victory of good over evil, the Kullu Dussehra is also known as the International Mega Dussehra.

The history of this spellbinding carnival dates back to the 17th century when the local king, Jagat Singh, installed an idol of Lord Raghunath on his throne on the advice of a Brahmin in order to eradicate his curse, after taking it from Lord Rama's kingdom, Ayodhya. After this, Lord Raghunath was declared as the ruling deity of the valley. According to traditions, a huge statue of the deity is now installed on a beautifully designed chariot, on the first day of the Festival, in the presence of other village gods and goddesses. The devotees after offering their prayers and respects to the deity take him to different sites across the Dhalpur Maidan.

The following days are celebrated with great devotion amidst various song and dance performances. Huge feasts are organized along with a culturally rich Kala Kendra Festival that makes the festival merrier. These vibrant cultural activities allure massive crowds and offer you the chance to experience the power of faith and community in the laps of the mighty Himalayas.

The last day of the festival is marked by sacrificing a fish, crab, rooster, buffalo and lamb, following which, a huge bonfire is lit. The celebrations are concluded with a bonfire that signifies the burning of Lanka, and the idol of Lord Raghunath is brought back to its original position through a grand procession.
