When the so-called 𝐂𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐞 was created in 1948, 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐤 𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 along with 3 small villages (Thang, Tyakshi & Chalunkha) went to Pakistan (under POK).
During the 1971 Indo-Pak war, 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐧 of the 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐲 along with his troop carried out night attacks in -27 degree celsius temperature and driven back Pakistanis from these areas liberating a huge area from illegal Pakistani occupation.

Villagers were surprised to see this overnight partition between India & Pakistan (POK). Their misery started from here when parents were separated from children, husbands were separated from wives, and many more.

In 1999, Pakistan Army crossed LOC and occupied numerous peaks in the Kargil sector breaking the Simla Agreement.
Their intention was clear - 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐇-𝟏 (lifeline & main supply route between Srinagar & Kargil) 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐬.
Looking at the entire range of high mountain peaks and rugged terrain, you can imagine how tough was the Kargil War for our army to recapture those peaks.
