Looking trough McDowell Dam. A view we hope to never see again. The water control structure in now in place and the crew will start back filling on Thursday. If things go well the McDowell trail and access should be open,to the public, in the next week or so.

I usually tend to side with conservationists but this was ridiculous. All that wasted time and money could have been used for acquiring more land in Spokane County for the public to recreate on.

We have to restrict Columbia River summer steelhead fishing that starts June 16 because we expect the lowest steelhead returns in 37 years. The forecast is especially weak for wild steelhead returning to the Snake River and the upper Columbia above Priest Rapids Dam. To conserve those runs, we’re reducing daily catch limits, prohibiting night fishing, and closing sport fishing for steelhead in some waters during months when those fish are passing through. We are deeply saddened to report that wetsuit manufacturing pioneer, Jack O'Neill, has passed away. Jack will be remembered for enabling surfers to ride cold-water breaks around the world as well as a true waterman. Our deepest condolences to the O'Neill family. Rest In Peace Jack.
