Knee Surgery β
Kids at school β
All went to plan. Kids super happy to be back at school too.
Signing off for now π
Back in Shepp for a quick spell. Kids back at school today to finish off the term and I'm off to Melbourne to get my knee fixed.
We will resume travelling early in 2024... Up the east coast of Aus...
When the search for a new home begins π₯°
Swan Hill, Vic
Back across the border into Victoria and enjoying the Pioneer Settlement π
Goolwa, Fleurieu Peninsula, SA
The Goolwa Barrages are made up of five barrage structures in the channels separating Lake Alexandrina from the sea at the mouth of the River Murray and the Coorong in South Australia.
Originally constructed to reduce salinity levels in the lower reaches of the River Murray, Lake Alexandrina and Lake Albert, but also to stabilise the river level, for both upstream irrigation and pumping.
Fur seals like to hang out in the waters here so we got up pretty close and watched them bathe and play in the waters for about an hour. It was so cool to see them up so close π¦π
*Edit: they were sea lions
Victor Harbour, Fleurieu Peninsula, SA
And a trip across the jetty to Granite Island
Rapid Bay campground, Fleurieu Peninsula, SA
We based ourselves here for two nights. Weather wasn't the greatest but I bet it's amazing in nice weather. Even so, we had fun exploring the caves and collecting rocks off the beach. Watched some friendly dolphins π¬ from the shore and went "squidding" off the jetty. Caught 6 in one hour π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦. Best catch we've made the whole trip.
Would love to have had a chance to get the paddle boards out to explore some more...next time...
Carrickalinga, Fleurieu Peninsula, SA
There were meant to be some really cool rockpools here but we couldn't for the life of us find them. Still a nice beach to visit and explore though with lovely sand, clear waters and cool rock formations.
Secret π€« Cove was a short walk around the corner. A bit tricky to access beach level but lovely views from above on an overcast and windy day π¨
Myponga Reservoir, Fleurieu Peninsula, SA
A pretty little stop along the coastal drive. Glad we didn't have the caravan on though. Would have been tight crossing the reservoir π²
Cactus Canyon, Fleurieu Peninsula, SA
Certainly glad we pulled in to check this one out ππ©΅β€οΈπ
Port Willunga, Fleurieu Peninsula, SA
Wowsers, this place was a very pleasant surprise indeed. We didn't think we would find another stunning beach after having done Cape LeGrande NP in WA. We were wrong π
Now it's another of our faves ππ©΅π
Good fun back in Clare Valley, SA with our faves from Tasmania xo
Kylie Webley our turn for a selfie next time haha. Thanks again for having us β€οΈ miss you already π
Whalers Way, SA

π Whalers Way, WA
*Edit: Whoops - clearly been in WA too long. Whalers Way is in SA π€¦ββοΈ thanks for pointing that out Troy Webley haha
Wow! So glad we went here. The weather wasn't great when we were in Port Lincoln back in April earlier this year and we ended up running out of time, so happy to have returned and had the chance to see it β€οΈ
The property was once a whaling π station area π₯ but the coastline is simply gorgeous and a wonderful way to spend your day exploring and sight π seeing. Totally worth the $40 to gain access to π
More fun with the Foster crew back in Port Lincoln, SA
Revisiting Glen Forrest Tourist Park π¦π¦ππ¨π¦π¦π¦πͺπ«
After crossing the Nullarbor we headed straight to our fave SA beach campsite for a little R&R after long days spent in the car.
Thanks for having us again Point Brown xo
Some pics from our second crossing of the Nullarbor this year, WA into SA
Wind wasnt too bad thankfully!
Bunda Cliffs and Scott's Beach
Thank you WA for the amazing adventures π₯°
What a blast we have had for the last 6 months

Swimming with a pod of dolphins at LeGrand Beach ππ¬π

LeGrand Beach Campsite, Cape LeGrand NP, WA
πππππππππππ
We based ourselves here for two nights to explore. Nice little spot!
Lucky Bay, Cape LeGrand NP, WA
ππππππππππππππππ
I can totally see why Lucky Bay was named The World's Best Beach this year.
It is simply stunning! So beautiful! Words cannot describe it β€οΈπ₯°π
Unfortunately for us we had a cold wind so we didn't venture in but just wandered along and allowed the beauty of Lucky Bay sink in.
Daz helped a group of people who got bogged on the soft, squeaky white sand because they hadn't let down their tyre pressure π₯΄
The sand goes from very compact to very fluffy about half way along π€
A bit busy for our liking but plenty of room to spread out and enjoy.
And enjoy we did!
Hellfire Bay, Cape LeGrand NP, WA
I had this cool guy walk with me along the track from Little Hellfire back towards Hellfire Bay. He stayed with me for a good ten minutes and wasn't scared at all. It was pretty awesome π

Enjoying the stunning Hellfire Bay, Cape LeGrand NP, WA
Hellfire Bay and Little Hellfire Bay, Cape LeGrand NP, WA
πππππππππππ
We loved this beach so much we came back a second time (also helped being so close to our campsite - just a 10 min drive)
More beautiful, powdery and squeaky white sand! The best we found was here at Hellfire Bay.
The kids had a ball riding the waves on their boogie boards while Daz and I soaked up the sun and stunning views.
A short walk over the hill brings you to Little Hellfire Bay, equally stunning but not as good swimming.
Talk about spoilt! π₯°
Frenchman's Peak Hike, Cape LeGrand NP, WA
Addie isn't too impressed with the incline...π± And she almost caught a fly or two in her mouth ππ€£
Frenchman's Peak, Cape LeGrand
Next on the list as we headed to our campsite at LeGrand Beach was to climb the "must do" Frenchman's Peak. We were a little unsure π€ seeing it was a steep class 5 walk π² but were reassured from fellow travellers we would be fine. Thanks Nichole Cauchi and Tracy Barton
It was a wonderful climb with great views and very rewarding at the peak. There are also two caves to explore with awesome views near the summit β°οΈ
So glad we did it!
Wharton Beach, Duke of Orleans Bay, WA
πππππππππππππππ
My oh my! This was one of our absolute faves to visit π and was the first on our list to explore!
We think it's one of the best beaches in Esperance and is totally worth the one-hour drive to get there.
The sand at this beach is so fine, it actually squeaks, and the colours of the water against the sand and blue skies is just magic. The rocks are a fun way to explore and to get that perfect vantage point!
Gentle waves π to swim πββοΈ or surf πββοΈ and well protected from the wind.
We parked the van at Condingup Tavern for the night and spent allllll day here. Just bliss π
Totally in love π
We have spent the last 6 months exploring WA and today we crossed back into SA. It has been an amazing state, with lots to see and plenty of adventures. π Goodbye WA. Thanks for having us.
Stay tuned for our last posts on WA (Cape LeGrand). Certainly saved the best til last!

The Great Ocean Drive, Esperance, WA
ππππππππππππππ
Our first introduction to the amazing beaches to come π and wow were they beauties!
Today we got to beach-hop and explored the following beaches and lookouts:
π©·Pink Lake (which is no longer pink)
π11 Mile Beach
πObservation Bay
πObservation Lookout
πTwilight Beach (my personal fave)
πBlue Haven
Don't let the pics fool you...it was blowing a galeπ¨ and the wind was cold π₯Ά. The sun was really warm, but the water was not π€
The million stairs certainly warmed us up but my knee wasn't so happy with a meniscus tear that needs cleaning up! An injury I've been nursing for four months π€ But...TOTALLY worth it π₯°π
Starvation Bay Rockpools, WA
Pics from Daz flying the drone π
Starvation Bay, WA
Lots of rock pools to explore. We found loads of washed up sea urchins and cuttle fish bones and a few puffer fish. We even found a stingray skull washed ashore π²π
Kids enjoyed the day going on walks along the beach, collecting items, exploring and making sand bombs (aka mud-pies).
Unfortunately a little too blowy to enjoy a swim but the beaches were lovely π when the seaweed stench was blowing in the opposite direction π€
East Mount Barren Hike,
Fitzgerald River National Park, WA
Another day, another hike π₯Ύ
A short but moderately difficult walk offering impressive views from the summit over Culham Inlet, the Eyre Range, Hamersley Inlet and the peaks of mid Mt Barren and Thumb Peak π some beautiful wild flowers as well β€οΈ
Ravensthorpe and Hopetoun, WA
Ravensthorpe big lolly and lolly shop π
Hopetoun beach and jumping pillow in the public playground π²π
Mount Barker, WA
Time to say goodbye to our friends in Mount Barker. We had a lovely time and can't wait to see you again in the future ππ
Bye Gypsy, Shirley and Steve π
Super cool frog Addie found that I thought was a wooden toy π€
Albany Wind Farm, WA
Isthmus Hill and the Albany Windfarm, WA
Stunning views from the Isthmus Hill (first part of the Bald Head Walk Trail). This trek is over 12km long so we only did the first 3km but another steep trek! Daz and I will be back to complete the full hike one day π
We also love a good Windfarm π¨ and at Albany you can walk amongst and right up to them! Pretty cool!
Bluff Knoll, WA
Descending the many... many steep stairs.
Bluff Knoll, WA
Time to start the decent
Bluff Knoll, WA
Making it to the summit. Lainy sums it up perfectly = "hard"
