2022. Mount Nebo is a popular pilgrimage site for Christians, and there is a church at the summit, which dates back to the 4th century AD. The church was built by early Christian pilgrims to commemorate Moses’ death and burial. 2022. Our first stop outside of Amman Jordan was Mt. Nebo. Mount Nebo is a significant biblical site located in Jordan, near the Dead Sea. It is traditionally believed to be the place where Moses viewed the Promised Land before his death, as described in the Bible in the book of Deuteronomy (34:1-5). According to the scripture, Moses died on Mount Nebo, and God buried him in an undisclosed location.

2022. Hercules, the ancient Greek hero, is associated with a temple in Amman, Jordan, known as the Temple of Hercules. This temple is located on the Citadel Hill in the heart of the city, which was once part of the Roman city of Philadelphia. The Temple of Hercules is one of the most important archaeological sites in Amman, and it dates back to the Roman period (2nd century AD).

The temple itself is not fully intact, but its large columns and some impressive ruins still stand, offering a glimpse into the grandeur of Roman-era architecture. One of the most famous features is a large hand of Hercules, which was discovered at the site. The hand is believed to be a remnant of a colossal statue of Hercules that once stood in the temple.

In addition to the Temple of Hercules, the Citadel area also contains other important ruins, including the Umayyad Palace, a Byzantine church, and the remains of a Roman theatre, all contributing to Amman’s rich historical tapestry.
