Gluten free?! No worries at the Storyteller’s Cafe at Disney’s Grand California Hotel!! (Swipe to see more photos)✨

It’s so easy to make a reservation with the Disneyland app. Be sure to note your gluten free food allergy. Then, when you checked in, the host confirms your allergy. I asked to speak with the chef (nicely!)👩🏼‍🍳

I got a full tour of the buffet, which is HUGE. I highly recommend going for brunch as they offer both breakfast and lunch foods plus dessert!

In the back (aka off-menu) the chef offered me mini bagels, made-to-order Mickey waffles, chocolate muffins and a huge gf chocolate chip cookie🎉

The Storytellers Cafe is accessible through either DCA or Downtown Disney. Make sure your ticket/reservation is for the right park.

Where are my at?! We ate at Lamplight Lounge in DCA last night… it’s on the Pixar Pier.

Featured here are the gluten free friendly Lobster Nachos. They remove the lobster sauce specifically and follow allergen prep protocols. It still had sauce on it, the portion was large enough to share and really yummy!

In the background you can see the kids’ meal my husband ordered. It’s NOT gf friendly (Mac/cheese) but I did eat some of his strawberries and carrots.

We love to eat here because we get to sit outside at sunset, overlooking the water and watch the DCA lights come on. It’s soooo beautiful and relaxing.

The key to a great Disney trip is kindly advocating for yourself. Often the gluten friendly items are not in the menu at first glance and I have to ask for gluten friendly options. The key really is to ask nicely. It’s like ordering off a secret menu 🤷‍♀️

You can always ask to speak with a chef directly to answer your questions and believe me if you ask for it, they will come!

When it’s your birthday AND 29th wedding anniversary at Disneyland/DCA and my server is the FIRST Disney employee to tell me those wretched paper straws have gluten in them. That explains a lot.

Where are my Disneyland peeps?! There are so many places to eat at Disneyland but a lot of people sleep on Rancho de Zocalo.🌵

I skip the menu, go right up to the people taking orders and *nicely* let them know I have a gluten allergy; may I please speak to a chef?

This has been my go-to lunch place and it’s never let me down ✨

The patio is so beautiful and there’s usually a shady spot available. Plus hearing the screams from Big Thunder is 🙌

Moving back to SoCal (the Left Coast) has brought back lots of memories, including these beautiful Hawaiian flowers. They used to be silkscreened on everything!

Plumeria (also known as Frangipani) has a delightful scent, and its petals can be white, pink, red or yellow. They’re commonly associated with but not native to Hawaii and are commercially grown to make leis!

Next week I’m heading to Disneyland/DCA to celebrate my bday🎉🎉 and I’m ready to enjoy ALL the .

Last year I got these YUMMMMY gf pancakes with cream cheese in between and the cute Mickey on top.

My brunch reservation at River Belle Terrace is booked in the app and I’ve noted my gluten allergy.

HACK: these aren’t in the menu on the app. 😱 But I make note of my allergy on the app, confirm it with the host upon check-in, and then very nicely ask the server what accommodations they have for me (allergic to wheat). I think asking nicely is a key to a great travel experience no matter where you go 😉👏

Dreaming fondly of this HUGE serving of gluten free fried fish at Raglan Road Pub at Disney Springs (part of Walt Disney World Resort in Florida).

Our experience was excellent! We booked our reservation on the WDW app. Our server was very knowledgeable about the gluten free protocols in place and helped me choose more items than I expected.

My clients have always had rave reviews of the dinner and show.

It can be scary to eat out with food allergies and sensitivities because we can’t always trust people to do the right thing. And for those with severe reactions, sometimes we have to make difficult choices to protect ourselves.

Recently Disney was in the news because a person with peanut allergies passed away after eating here, despite notifying the waitstaff of the allergy.

I don’t know all the particulars of this tragic event but it does reinforce in my mind that we need to advocate for ourselves, know what questions to ask, how to ask them and who should we talk to about our concerns.

Its a special day at our house! One year ago my hubby Brent and I flew in an air ambulance from NC to our new home in Orange County CA…literally right down the street from Disneyland! I’ve been able to stay home and help Brent recover from open heart surgery and a stroke. I’m still helping families discover their best Disney vacation, and I’m even putting together a cruise for my high school reunion 🚢

From where were last year to this year …what an improvement!! we are forever grateful for the prayers and support of our family, friends and caretaking team. You know who you are ✨

When you look at this photo, what do you see first? I see the JOY on my hubby’s face, who’s recovering from a major stroke and lots of complications from that. What you DON’T see is Brent’s wheelchair that he needs to get around. You also DON’T notice that Brent’s right arm is in a fixed position, and Goofy quietly mirrored and normalized Brent’s reality. That’s the “magic of Disney” that I want to share with you!! Where are my “little chef” fans at? Have you tried Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in the Paris pavilion at EPCOT?! Definitely worth the wait, although Genie+ makes it so much easier. What’s your take on buying Genie+ at EPCOT?! Vote for your favorite strategy:
