⚜ Have you ever been to Castelpetroso?

It is a small and charming village in Molise, almost suspended between time and space.

The beating heart of the PiccoloBorgoAntico is the SantuarioDellAddolorata.

Located on a hill at the foot of Mount Patalecchia, the first time you see it gives the impression of being in an enchanted place.

Its story begins on March 22, 1888, when for the first time the Virgin appeared to two local farmers while they were looking for a lost sheep.

One of the two women saw Mary of Sorrows appear, half kneeling and with her dead Son at her feet, with her gaze upward and her arms open in an act of offering.

The first stone was laid in 1890, but due to numerous economic problems, the work took a long time.

Almost a hundred years later, in 1975 the Church was finally consecrated and elevated to a minor basilica by Pope Francis in 2013.

In French Gothic style, the plant is of the radial type with seven arms to symbolize the heart of Mary pierced by seven swords. The seven pains, to each of which one of the seven side chapels is dedicated.

Every summer a water festival called "a Chiena" is held in the characteristic village of Campagna (Campania Region). The river bed is deviated so that it can pass through the roads of the village. And then the fun starts! How cool is that!?
