Ngorongoro Crater

The Ngorongoro crater, also known as 'Africa's Garden of Eden’, is located inside the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, an 1892 km² site in northeast Tanzania.

The Crater is made of a vast caldera, formed when a volcano the size of Mount Kilimanjaro erupted and then collapsed on itself over 2.5 million years ago.

Today, the Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unfilled, intact, and inactive volcano in the whole world. This impressive crater is over 600 meters (2000 feet) deep deep, with high walls towering around the crater edge and a whopping area of 259 km2.

The best time to visit Ngorongoro is between May and October, during Tanzania’s dry season. Animals are known to gather around water sources, so you will have the best opportunity to see the big five and more.

During the rainy season (November-March) some animals are hidden away in the short grass plains, bringing up their young.

You can visit the Ngorongoro crater by flying into Kilimanjaro International Airport, which is 50km from Arusha.

14 Days / 13 Nights Tanzania Luxury Safari.

From USD$ 9,562 Per person, minimum 4 travelers to run this trip at this price.

Full itinerary details hereby:
http://www.warrioradventures.net/14days-tanzania-luxury-safari.php

This safari captures the very best of East Africa, Tanzania. You will explore the rugged landscape of Tarangire National Park, a unique safari backdrop with rolling grasslands, vibrant swamps and forests of enigmatic baobab trees, which according to legend were planted ‘upside down’ for growing too tall and proud.

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater and roam the great plains of the Serengeti in search of the migratory herds of zebra and wildebeest and their territorial predators: lion, leopard and cheetah.

Navigate the wilds of Tanzania, arguably one of Africa’s best-kept secrets, whose national parks and conservation areas cover an area in excess of 76,200 square miles.

Get ready for an extraordinary journey and multicultural experience on this off-the-beaten path safari through Tanzania’s prolific game parks.

Seek out the Big Five with expert rangers on game drives within Tarangire, the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Parks; hike near the Empakai Crater; and visit Olduvai Gorge, “the cradle of mankind.” Along the way, you’ll interact with the local Maasai people, mingle with villagers at the local markets and join the nomadic Wahadzabe hunters as they search for food.

Enjoy a combination of ideally-situated permanent and tented camps and small lodges. The word ‘Safari’ is Swahili for journey and conjures up images of exploration and adventure. A luxury mobile tented safari is all about freedom and choice — how you want to spend your days and where. While visiting pristine northern Tanzania, you will sleep under the canvas in lavish mobile tented camps and overnight in classic lodges too, with evenings around a crackling campfire.

Cheetahs are primarily found in the scrub forests, grasslands, savannahs, open fields, steppes, and desert environments of East Africa, where they can find prey that is suited for them to use as their primary hunting grounds. A few are also found in mountain ranges, coastal regions, and lakeshores.

A safari vehicle in Tanzania

needs to be tough enough to get off the beaten track and deep into the African wilderness, safely and reliably. It needs to be rugged but comfortable, and most of all; it needs to be well-maintained. Your vehicle can make or break your trip. You don’t want to be limited by a vehicle that can’t take you to the best places for viewing wildlife, nor do you want to lose valuable time on a safari due to breakdowns. Warrior Adventures Africa has thought about these things, and we’ve got you covered.

Warrior Adventures Africa Vehicles.

We have a fleet of Toyota Land Cruisers, the toughest vehicles in the African bush. We professionally customize our vehicles and maintain them in our own workshop in Arusha. They are modern, clean, and in perfect working order. Some of our safari vehicles have a longer wheelbase, offering a seating capacity of seven window seats, while some have five window seats.

Each vehicle is equipped with the following:

Seat belts for each passenger
A pop-up roof hatch on hydraulic suspension gives access to each passenger allowing you to stand up and get an unimpeded view of the wildlife while in the parks.
There is also a roof hatch over the front 2 seats for those sitting up front with the driver.
A Fridge for your own drinks and snacks is at the back of each vehicle and we keep drinking water for your use ice cold as well.
We provide unlimited safe drinking water for your whole safari. remember to bring your own water bottle as we are a plastic-free company.

Wildebeest Migration in Tanzania

When the Grumeti River obstacle has been taken, the herd moves further north and starts crossing the next big hurdle, the Mara River, in July or August. The Mara River crossing is where so many iconic Great Migration photos have been taken. After this crossing the herd flocks to the northwest plains and Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. The August – September period is considered being a bad time to visit Serengeti National Park and see the Great Migration as the herd moves into the Masai Mara in Kenya. However, migration patterns show that about half of the herd stays on the Tanzanian side, in the Mara Serengeti area. In this period, smaller herds of wildebeest (well consider small… herds may count up to between 500 and thousands of individuals) frequently cross the Mara River, back and forth, for no apparent reason. This is an excellent time to stay at one of the Serengeti Mara camps.

What are some facts about female lions?

Female lions are the primary hunters of the group. They are smaller and more agile than males. But since their prey is still generally faster than them, they use teamwork to bring an animal down. Fanning out, they form a semicircle, with the smaller, weaker lionesses herding the prey towards the center.

What makes African buffalo special?

The Cape buffalo's curved horns add to the stature of an already imposing animal, which can reach seven feet from tip to tail. Horns can help distinguish age and s*x. In large adult males, the horns meet in the middle of their heads and are joined by a hard shield called a “boss.” This creates a helmet-esque formation.

Why are zebras and giraffes together?

However, when moving in zebra–giraffe herds, they shift and primarily rely on giraffe as a way of detecting predators. The combination of these data suggests that zebra are not reliant on auditory alarm snorts/calls, and can possibly interpret leaked cues from giraffe to reduce their vigilance behavior.
