I conducted a field trial of our new Starlink Mini satellite equipment. This tiny phased array antenna is about the size of a sheet of letter size paper, is less than 2-inches thick, and weighs 2.43 lbs. That's everything except the power supply, which in this case is the small silver and black block on the picnic table. Built-in WiFi simultaneously supports up to 128 devices During today's test we watched Linda's Kansas City Chiefs beat the Bengals and our Indiana Fever beat the Dallas Wings while I also connected with my smartphone and laptop. The Mini was about 50-feet from the Kismet and easily reached the FireTV inside the coach with a download speed of 100 Mbps and upload speed of 6.8 Mbps. The 20 volt battery showed it had another 17 minutes available after nearly 3 hours of use. I would say today's test was a success!

Everyone with an older motor home that has this 4-button Duo-Therm thermostat has, or will, have problems with the buttons working dependably. Over the years the switch contacts become tarnished and increasingly difficult to use. About four years ago I cleaned the contacts on the original switches and squeezed about three years out before the issue slowly returned. A few days ago I decided it was time to resolve the issue forever (at least the life of the motor home). To accomplish that I replaced all for switches by soldering exact replacement onto the printed circuit board, moving the button caps to the new switches, and reassembling. Success! Works like new and I couldn't be happier.

After a wonderful Christmas moochdocking with family we're on the road home. We decided to have truck stop Denny's for dinner tonight.

Seamus and Linda check the M/C Kismet's Christmas decorations. Sure is nice to take your house with you so you can be there bright and early when the grands come downstairs to find presents under the Christmas tree!

Laid back in our Zero-G recliners enjoying the cool breeze and sunset. Too bad Venus didn't show up in this picture, it's a -4.0 Magnitude tonight.

We've discovered that 9 out of 10 campers here this time of year set up for a month or longer, and come only on the weekends showing up Friday evening and departing Sunday night. That's great for us!

Linda and I take a bird feeder with us and enjoy seeing who shows up. Getting ready to shoot some video in the morning and I found this fun clip on the camera that we recorded at Inks Lake State Park last July when I attached a video camera to the feeder.

Good Bye 2016, here comes 2017!

I hiked up to the Park Headquarters this morning and stopped to see the water rushing over CCC Check Dam #2 on Clear Fork Creek. When I got to the park office I learned that the creek had come up during last night's storm to five feet over the road.

This is the way to spend your Saturday night. No television, no traffic noise, no city lights in the sky. I love the sounds of a campground at night. Soft voices, children playing, people laughing, cracking fire, and croaking frogs. Just sit in front of the fire with a cup of coffee and squeeze someone you love.
