Our Lapland holiday home is right by a lake, so just a minute’s walk from the house we get a completely open view to the north, big skies and hardly any light pollution. Great for , and in general. These are just a few of the amazing variety of shapes the made last night! We were so lucky to have a great show 🤩💚

It was a fun ride, with a really informative host, and ended with hot chocolate and sausages toasted on the open fire in a beautifully decorated shelter.

‘We do it twice’ - a party on the frozen river on the border of and , and therefore straddling two time zones. First we celebrated the Finnish new year, an hour later the Swedish one!

, a live band, a mobile , and - if you are crazy enough - a hole in the ice to dip into the freezing river water!

Such a unique way to see in the new year… twice!

So great the the amazing and very friendly people of / in put this event on every year.

You should try it some time!

Amazing super strong in a couple of nights ago. The was really bright, dancing, and filled the whole sky - even to the south. A truly show.

All shots taken from within 10 metres of the house ( ), some even taken from inside through the windows! It was so bright and widespread we could just lie in bed and watch it from there 😆
