Well y'all...today marks the end of an era. 🐻
The Country Bear Jamboree opened with the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971 and has continued to welcome and entertain guests for 53 years.
The Country Bear Jamboree has been affectionately referred to as “Walt’s last laugh” because it was one of the last attractions that Walt Disney personally helped to develop for a planned Disney ski resort in Mineral King, California.
After Walt’s death the plans for the ski resort never came to be, but the Country Bear Jamboree lived on at Magic Kingdom. It was so popular that a second version opened at Disneyland in 1972 and a third version opened with Tokyo Disneyland in 1983.
While today is the final "curtain call" for the classic show... have no fear... it will open up later this year as “The Country Bear Musical Jamboree". (The beloved bears will be singing Disney songs.)
I was able to make one last visit to The Country Bear Jamboree last month. What can I say? Sure it was silly and cheesy, but there is something so nostalgic about it. 💗
I, like so many took it for granted.
The Country Bear Jamboree was a staple and I have to admit ...I'm going to miss it.
