If you know Barbados, you about dominoes. Played at any and every street corner, you’ll find locals knocking a game of doms wherever you turn. Dominoes is engrained in Bajan culture, and as such, a part of our house. You’ll always find a pack of doms stashed away at Brees.
Here’s a fun story:
I returned home for the first time in 3 years (COVID & all that), and decided the one place I wanted to be was in Bathsheba. I invited a couple of friends to visit from the US and as we arrived at Brees, we decided to take a short sunset walk on the beach. Sitting in the sand was this 5/2 domino. That’s when I turned to them and said, “Now that’s how you know you’re in Barbados!”. Then Eddy got stung by a random bee lost in the seaweed, so we headed back to the house. Eddy was sure he wasn’t allergic, so we decided it would be best to start the trip off the right way - with a game of doms. We opened the pack to find one missing… That darn 5/2… No way that was it on the beach right?! Well hold onto your knickers because… well, that wasn’t it 🤣. The 5/2 was safely in the case, but another one was missing. Imagine if it was though?! Man… that would have almost been as epic as the roasted breadfruit we had the next night for dinner 🤤. Anyhow, we promptly whipped out a new pack and it was game on! Turns out Eddy is somehow now allergic to bees, but that’s a story for another time. Don’t worry, he’s alive and well!
