Nairobi, Kenya, is the only capital city in the world with its own national park. Nairobi National Park is located just outside the bustling capital, It is renowned for its thriving rhino population, hosting both black and white rhinos, making it one of the best places to see these endangered species up close. The park’s unique location offers a striking contrast, where wildlife like lions, giraffes, and buffalo roam freely against the backdrop of city skyscrapers. With over 400 bird species and a rich diversity of animals, it’s a must-visit destination for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts alike.

These giraffes are play fighting, a behavior called necking, where males test their strength and practice dominance. While this may seem harmless, when giraffes fight for real, it can become dangerous and even fatal as they use their powerful necks and heads as weapons.

This incredible moment was captured in Majete Wildlife Reserve, Malawi, a shining example of conservation success thanks to African Parks. With abundant wildlife and a focus on responsible tourism, Majete is a hidden gem for travelers seeking authentic and lesser-known destinations.

Offering incredible biodiversity without the crowds, Majete stands out with its commitment to sustainability and cultural immersion, making it perfect for eco-conscious explorers. Meeting Baraka, the blind black rhino at Ol Pejeta Conservancy, was an unforgettable moment. Baraka, whose name means “blessing” in Swahili, was born in the wild.
Baraka became blind at a young age after a fight with another rhino and got a bad injury on one eye. Later on, he developed cataract on the other eye
He now lives in a sanctuary where he’s cared for and continues to be an ambassador for rhino conservation.

Baraka’s story is a powerful reminder of the importance of protecting these incredible creatures and their habitats. Ol Pejeta is leading the way in conservation efforts, and visiting this destination is not just about experiencing the wildlife but also supporting a vital cause.

Kuthengo Camp in Liwonde National Park, Malawi, is a hidden gem for those seeking luxury, tranquility, and incredible wildlife experiences without the crowds.

Nestled along the Shire River, this camp offers stunning game drives, walking safaris, and peaceful boat cruises. The isolation adds to its magic – it’s just you, nature, and unforgettable moments.

African Parks has transformed Liwonde into a thriving conservation success story, protecting endangered species and restoring the park’s natural balance. Kuthengo Camp blends this conservation mission with top-tier hospitality – thanks to hosts Mike, Jen, and their amazing team who ensured I was well taken care of, even with my vegan diet. Plus, the luxury experience here comes at half the price of most safari destinations.
