Happy World Giraffe Day 🦒

Today we celebrate these majestic creatures as well as raise awareness for the incredible conservation work that is going on today to protect them. Giraffe conservation efforts have been gaining momentum worldwide. And organizations such as the Giraffe Conservation Foundation & Save Giraffes Now have been working tirelessly to protect giraffes and their habitats.

Did you know that giraffes are the tallest land animals on Earth? With their long necks and legs, they can reach heights of up to 18 feet (5.5 meters)! That's like having a two-story building walking around in the wild 🤯!

Nature's fascinating design never ceases to amaze!

Let's appreciate the incredible strides being made in giraffe conservation and continue supporting these efforts, not just today but always. Together, we can ensure a brighter future for these gentle giants!

World Pangolin Day

Today we celebrate these unique animals who are at the top of every safari enthusiasts checklist.

Despite their scaly appearance, pangolins are actually mammals and are the only mammals on earth that are completely covered in scales, which serve as protection against predators.

Ironically their scales are also the reason they are one of the most trafficked animals in the world, with all 8 species of pangolin making the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species .

Aside from celebrating them, is about raising awareness about their plight! African Parks has been doing phenomenal conservation work in Malawi and last year was able to save a number of pangolins from the illegal wildlife trade. This particular one was rescued last year and released back into the wild in Majete Wildlife Reserve.

We also want to acknowledge the work IUCN Pangolin Specialist Group, Save Pangolins and Pangolin Crisis Fund are doing to conserve these amazing creatures!

Shout out to Mulberry Mongoose and Patrick Mavros who have some stunning pangolin-inspired jewellery and sculptures. They both support conservation efforts through the sale of their pieces!

Hope on the horizon... 🌅

2020 has undoubtedly been the most challenging year we have all had to face but the upcoming New Year together with recent medical developments gives us hope; the hope that in 2021 we will be able to do what we do best again – give our guests an experience of a lifetime! Our team is looking forward to sharing the beauty of Africa with you soon.

A big thank you to everyone who has been supporting our ‘Safari Dreaming’ campaign! The international tourism downturn left us struggling to support our conservation and community initiatives and this led to us looking for alternative ways to raise the necessary funds. The response to both the Safari Dreaming e-book and the Safari Dreaming calendar has been amazing and has allowed us to continue supporting the various conservation and community projects during this trying time. This year has been a year of regaining perspective and as we come to the end of the final chapter of 2020, we would like to assure you of our commitment to positively moving forward and offering unforgettable safari experiences in 2021.

Best Wishes for the New Year ahead and
Keep Safari Dreaming 🥂🐾

The next exciting guest for the walk is Robin Pope.

Robin realized a dream when he started in 1985, constructing Tena Tena Camp.

We cannot wait to spend time in the bush and around the camp fire with Robin! We will also try our best to spend some time chatting to Jo Pope as founder and chairperson of
