These are SO BOUGIE AND BADASS. My new female EH inertia safety work boots. You think it was easy to find female work boots that met all my job requirements?

I can assure you, it was not.

These beautiful boots are also hand made in the United States, by women, for women. They also have safety shoes and riding boots.

What better way to support a women owned and operated small business? It was an honor to buy from Xena. Plus they look adorable, and they’re not heavy or bulky! Most work boots are VERY heavy and bulky.

They’re:
‣ ASTM Certified (F2413-18) & OSHA Compliant
‣ Electrical Hazard Certification (18,000 Volts)
‣ Impact & Compression Resistant (I/75 C/75)
‣ Oil & Chemical Resistant Outsole (D471)

They’re the bomb. I LOVE them!!

Ka Lae

Ka Lae, also known as South Point, is the southernmost point of the Big Island of Hawaii and of the United States.

The Ka Lae area is registered as a National Historic Landmark District under the name South Point Complex. The area is also known for its strong ocean currents and winds and is the home of a wind farm.

You can cliff jump, (Not me. For someone that’s so adventurous, I HATE heights. Lol. 😆😂), and you can look down a rocky opening into the ocean nicknamed “toilet bowl” by the locals.

South point and Green Sand Beach!!

Papakōlea Beach (also known as Green Sand Beach or Mahana Beach) is a green sand beach located near South Point in the Kaʻū district of the island of Hawaiʻi. It is one of only four green sand beaches in the world, the others being Talofofo Beach, Guam; Punta Cormorant on Floreana Island in the Galapagos Islands; and Hornindalsvatnet, Norway. It gets its distinctive coloring from olivine sand eroded out of the enclosing volcanic cone (tuff ring).

The fragmented volcanic material (pyroclastics) of the tuff ring contains olivine, a silicate mineral containing iron and magnesium, also known as peridot when of gem quality. Olivine is a common mineral component of lava and is one of the first crystals to form as magma cools. Olivine is locally known as "Hawaiian Diamond" and is notably found in Oʻahu's famous Diamond Head landmark.

In order to get to Green Sand Beach, it is a 2.8 mile hike each way, in the intense wind and beating sun. There is no coverage. So when you visit Big Island, make sure you have your hiking boots, hat, and sunscreen! After your hike, swimming in the ocean once you get there and climb down is super refreshing!

Rainbows and Volcanoes!!

Did you know that Hawaii was formed by 5 volcanoes, four of which are still active today? Four of these active volcanoes are located on Big Island. They include Kilauea, Mauna Loa, Mauna Kea, and Hualalai. The other is located on Maui and it is Mount Haleakala. On sept 29, 2020, one of these volcanoes (Kīlauea) had a crater that began erupting! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so naturally, we’re on the way to Volcano National Park to see lava tubes and see some lava erupt! Lava erupts from the Kīlauea volcano, in a single vent in the western wall of Halemaʻumaʻu crater. It is so bright, at night it can be seen from over 20 miles away. More pics to follow!

These amazing night photos were taken by my friend Justin Potter (). I have no idea what camera or lens he used, but I’m sure it was an expensive one. Lol. He was generous enough to share them with me, so I wanted to share them with all of you. ☺️ These photos were taken at the summit, which is 13,803 feet above sea level.

Pictures from Mauna Kea. Mauna Kea is a dormant volcano. It is one of 5 volcano’s responsible for the formation of Big Island, Hawaii. It’s also the tallest mountain in Hawaii. Mauna Kea stands at a whopping 9,966 meters or 32,696 feet. These photos were taken at the summit, which is 13,803 feet above sea level. Let me just tell you, baby it was COLD outside! At 27° F or -2.8° C, and winds whipping at 30-50 mph, it was freezing up there! The summit can also only be accessed by a 4WD vehicle. There is a ranger present and they are very strict about this. We saw people driving their 4WD vehicles driving like imbeciles, and as a result, saw 4 people get flat tires. I’m sure it wasn’t particularly fun to change their tires in such extreme conditions.

Pictures from Mauna Kea! Mauna Kea is a dormant volcano. It’s also the tallest mountain in Hawaii. Mauna Kea stands at a whopping 9,966 meters or 32,696 feet. This was taken at the Mauna Kea visitor center. All persons traveling to the summit must wait at this altitude (2,800 meters or 9,200 feet) for an hour before continuing in order to prevent altitude sickness. The photos taken here have a heiau. A heiau is a Hawaiian temple. Made in different architectural styles depending upon their purpose and location, they range from simple earth terraces, to elaborately constructed stone platforms. There are heiau to treat the sick (heiau hōʻola), offer first fruits, offer first catch, start rain, stop rain, increase the population, ensure the health of the nation, achieve success in distant voyaging, reach peace, and achieve success in war (luakini). Heiau’s are considered sacred, and should never be touched or approached. Past the heiau is a beautiful endangered plant on Mauna Kea. “Argyroxiphium sandwicense subsp. sandwicense, the Mauna Kea silversword, is a highly endangered flowering plant endemic to the island of Hawaiʻi (Big Island) of Hawaii. It is the "crown jewel" of the volcanic mountain Mauna Kea, from which it derives its English name. The Hawaiian name is ʻahinahina; it applies to silverswords more broadly. The Mauna Kea silversword was once common on the volcano, and extraordinary conservation efforts are being made to preserve the species. The leaves have an unusual and important ability to store water as a gel in its intracellular spaces where other plant leaves contain air. This is essential for its survival in such an arid climate.
