Port Stephens businesses get involved with ‘sensory tourism’

Travelling and exploring new places can be a daunting experience for people who are blind or vision impaired. However, an emerging concept of ‘sensory tourism’ focuses on presenting destinations differently, and businesses in Port Stephens are getting involved to ensure everyone can enjoy what the region has to offer. Travel Without Limits has some questions for our travellers. Are you ready?

Travel Without Limits is Australia’s first (and only!) disability-specific travel magazine. We gather as much information as we can about accessible and inclusive travel opportunities around the world, and pack it all into each glossy issue for subscribers. But we want to do more, and we need your help!

We’ve put together a short survey for people with disability about your travel experiences, and what would make them easier and more enjoyable for you. We want to use this information to help hotels, airlines, and other travel providers make destinations more accessible to people of all abilities.

Tell us what you think, and you’ll be in the draw to WIN one of 10 year-long subscriptions to Travel Without Limits!

The survey closes on 11 November, so get in quick! (Please note that the prize draw is open to Australian residents only.)

We’ve got a new review!

Epe K just left a new 5-star review of Cocky Guides:

I enjoyed a fantastic AUSLAN centred tour to Mt Wilson & Bilpin with Cocky Guides. Buck is a down to Earth tour guide & thoroughly researches the areas he passes through. He carefully balances days that arm tourists with fascinating background knowledge & allows people to properly take in sights, instead of rushing them through token tours, merely touching destinations.

On this particular tour, Buck worked very intentionally & considerately with the amazing Auslan interpreter, Georgia, who clearly communicated the feelings & perspectives of all present.

One of Buck's main motivations is that anybody should be able to tour independently, including the deaf & those with low vision. He is reflective & seeks feedback to build tours that empower all people to truly enjoy the vast beauty within Australia.

The integrity behind such a goal adds tremendously to the value of a wonderful day out. Cannot recommend enough. A+++++++
