A one block walk from the southbound stop across the street from the EJ Conroy drive bus stop, and at N. Broadway and Main St, and a short walk from the bus stop at the corner of Mamaroneck Ave. and Martine Ave. Over half the buses in the county stop nearby.

I've yet to find the perfect supermarket, but the Shoprite of White Plains, competing with its…

Yesterday I ordered a hot meal, delivered from Crotty's Cheesesteak of New Rochelle (right off the Route 30 bus, on Eastchester Rd. in New Rochelle), care of their "ghost kitchen" in White Plains (a restaurant they work with that follows their recipes.) Between yesterday and today, I had a classic cheesesteak, mac n cheese, and cheese 'nuggets', which were essentially small nugget sized mozzarella sticks. Overall, the food was god, not great, which I attribute in part to the type of food, and that it was delivered, rather than eaten fresh at the restaurant. The cheesesteak arrived fairly hot, and consisted of a wedge roll (not the garlic wedge ordered), a decent size portion of chopped steak, caramelized onions, and cheese whiz. The cheese was not distributed evenly throughout the meat, making the sandwich saltier than I'd have preferred in spots. The cheese nuggets and mac were both not hot enough to eat at the time, so they were reheated and eaten today. The nuggets were reheated in the container they came in, but would have benefited from reheating on a wire pizza rack, which would allow airflow that would evenly crisp the nuggets, as opposed to them only getting crisp on one side. The mac n cheese was very good, but whether 'd say it was good enough to enjoy the premium price they charge is another story. I'd venture the food is better eaten fresh at Crotty's than delivery; overall, the delivery was good, but I wouldn't do it again. I would eat there if in the area. https://www.facebook.com/CrottysCheesesteaks

Since my day went completely off the rails today, I decided to at least salvage it by getting a cheesesteak sandwich from Tommy's a good 40minute walk north, or a 3 minute ride on the Route 6 bus. ( chose the bus.) Tommy's offers a variety of hot and cold deli sandwiches and entrees, all prepared fresh, and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner customers.
The cheesesteak had a respectable portion of meat, plenty of cheese, and since toppings were to order, got peppers and onions; I also ordered a side of onion rings. The onion rings were not what you get from fast food. They were large, uneven sized, and obviously made from actual rings of onion from a sliced onion. They complemented the sandwich nicely, as they were unsalted, taking the edge off the salt from the cheese in the sandwich. Add in a diet coke, and it was a good meal.
even though it was late on a Friday afternoon, there were a decent number of customers coming in and out of the store, even though there's a competing deli across the street. Tommy's offers both inside and outside seating, a nice competitive advantage. they're worth a visit if you need a good deli and are in the area. https://www.facebook.com/tommysdelicafe

Today, in the City of White Plains, I took the Route 40 bus to save myself some walking. I'd already walked over 1/2 hour at that point, and still needed to go vote. Thankfully, the Westchester County Board of Elections is only a block away from the southbound 40's first stop on Post Road.\, saving me at least 10 minutes of walking up hill. After voting in the NYS primary, I walked back to Post Road, where I got lunch at Euro Pizza. Although they've had to raise prices due to rising costs, they still have several affordable daily lunch specials. today I got their chicken parmigiana with a side of ziti, which was less than $11 with tax. It was a tasty, filling meal at a reasonable price, with a properly cooked thin chicken cutlet, a well balanced sauce, nicely melted mozzarella, and a shaker with parmigiana cheese for extra flavor on both the chicken and ziti. I've been going to this restaurant on and off or close to 30 years, practically from the day they opened, and the quality and consistency haven't varied at all, ever. There aren't a lot of restaurants that can say that. https://www.facebook.com/europizzawp

Today, I stopped by the Crossroads Shopping center on Tarrytown Road in White Plains (accessible by the 13, 14, and 15 bus routes). hoping to do a trifecta for needed stops: go to the Chase ATM, get my cat her favorite Fancy Feast from PetSmart, and get myself some Little Caesar's deep dish from the Little Caesar's in Kmart.
Unfortunately, I wound up going 0 for 3.
Because it was a holiday, only the drive thru ATMs were open, and the line for those was insane. At PetSmart, they'd never heard of Fancy Feast Creamy Delights, but recommended I try their website. As for Little Caesar's - I was last there in February, but sometime between then and today, Kmart closed, taking Little Caesar's with it.
So I walked half a block down Tarrytown Road, crossed the street, and went to Planet Pizza, where I got a chicken parm. wedge that was as good as remember, though the price had gone up. (Apparently, the daily specials menu is a pandemic casualty.) All in all, this day was quite a disappointment. At least my next planned outing on Wednesday should be better.
Stay tuned!
