Black Friday is 30 days away. There are always Black Friday travel deals, however, it's also such a busy time that most Travel Agents aren't really watching and posting most of them. I will be in between Hawaii and London and with my family so I won't be posting much that week, however I will most likely see every sale that lands in my email box.

I can't post them all, but I can watch for you. If you have something you'd like to do in 2025, send me a note and I'll make a list and if I see something that matches your dream, I can let you know.

Most sales will be for cruises, small group tours and packaged rail journeys with the occasional vacation package like flights and a resort together. These will be limited time offers and not something you can spend weeks thinking about. It's like any Black Friday Sale - it's there and then it's gone pretty quickly.

Send me a note if you are serious about a particular 2025 dream that I can turn into a plan for you!

Probably my most frustrating, yet funny, airplane experience.

I'll just say it, I like it when airplane seats are in pairs rather than trios. It works best for us. But, then, I have had some of my most annoyingly hilarious flying experiences with that third wheel by the window. Today, I shall tell you about "French Lady"....

We were flying from Paris to Seattle and sitting in our usual spot in the exit row by the toilets. The seats are like boxes so your nether region is crammed in it like a can of spam, but you have infinite glorious leg room.

We got on the flight and, as usual, my husband was on the aisle and I got the enviable middle seat. No actual normal human would CHOOSE that seat but I find myself continually middle seating like a middle seat champ.

When we got on, there was already a woman sitting in the third seat and another woman sitting next to her in my seat. In fact, now that I think about it, I was actually not on the plane, yet. I got tapped for extra security checks at the gate along with about 5 mothers with small children and 4 people in wheelchairs. Apparently, we all looked like we were going to take the plane down, or something. And, of course, in typical airport worker fashion, they were in no hurry to screen us. I think the plane door nicked my heel as I ran through it and it closed behind me.....

But, I digress..... my husband got on and this woman and her friend were sprawled out. He had to try to explain that they were in MY seat and needed to move. They kind of tried to ignore him and convince him that the friend COULD and WOULD sit there. Nope. He was not convinced and he made her move.

When I got on finally and sat down, he told me what happened. The minute I sat down, she pulled up her screen and started yelling at me in French about movies. I told her several times I didn't understand and finally caught the eye of a flight attendant who DID speak French and he just told her to put her screen down until we were in the air.

The minute we got in the air, she did the same thing and I said the same thing. The gist of it was, "Why aren't all the movies in French because we just left France?" The gist of my answer was "Because we're on a British airline."

The snacks and food started coming and this is where it REALLY went sideways.

First of all, it's important to know that she was sitting by the emergency exit. It was kind of in front of her. And, the door had a large sloping hump like the photo. It wasn't flat but it was flat enough to tempt her.

It's important to know that the tray tables come out of the arm rests in these seats. And, they are kind of tight. I call them "T-Rex Tables" because in order to properly eat from them, you really need arms the same length as a T-Rex.

First drink comes. She gets coffee, if I remember correctly. It all goes fine. She puts it in the tray table and has her snack. When she was done, she didn't want it in front of her anymore so she sets the cup (that still had liquid in it) and the snack wrapper on the hump of the emergency exit door. Within about 3 minutes, it vibrates off on the floor. Spill one.....

Next up was a meal. We do the same thing - everything is fine until she's done eating. She wants to put the tray table away so she takes the meal tray and puts it on the sloped surface and gets up to go to the loo. As happens with flying, we hit a little rough patch and on the first bump, I watch it all crash to the floor. Being the nice person I am, I just sat there with my seat belt securely fastened watching my movie. She comes back from the loo and is GENUINELY PUZZLED as to why the contents of her meal tray are all over the floor. She even tries to ask me what happened. I just shrug. She starts picking it all up and kind of yelling for the flight attendant like they needed to come help her. Spill 2..... by now, most people would have learned something. But, oh no, she was just getting warmed up.....

After a bit, they bring around hot coffee and tea. She gets a nice steaming hot open cup of tea. She is trying to do something while holding it. I think she was trying to fasten her seat belt. She didn't put out the tray table. So, I indicate that I can hold the tea while she does whatever she's doing and she says, "no". Literally within about 10 seconds she dumps the hot tea all down her shirt. I just look at her and go, "Ohhhhhh.... darn......" She jumps up - putting the empty cup on the sloped bit (it stayed there all of about 10 seconds) and runs to the loo.

About 5 minutes later, she comes back..... in her bra......just her bra and pants.... that's it. And, mind you, she's a middle aged French woman. I'm thankful she HAD a bra on first of all, but, it wasn't like Bridget Bardot returning to her seat. It was a middle-aged woman in a cross-your-heart support bra.

She plops down. A sideways glance tells me my husband is dying inside - I see it in his eyes. My brain is on fire at this point. I'm trying to decide what to do. Honestly, it's really kind of gross to sit next to someone's uncovered flesh on an airplane. So, I'm mulling over in my head how to cover the flesh that is touching me.

Meanwhile, a flight attendant comes over holding a wet shirt with one finger like a hook and kind of hilariously asks her, "Is this your shirt?" Ummmmmm... how did you know? LOL The woman is told that she can't leave it in the loo. Apparently, she took it off and left it on the little fold down hook on the back of the door for all to enjoy in that 14 inch by 14 inch space they call a toilet. The flight attendant hands the woman her shirt and walks off. The woman immediately hangs it over the HANDLE OF THE EMERGENCY EXIT DOOR! You know, that handle that we have to see clearly to know how to pull in case of an emergency? Let's just say that didn't last long as an option.

I finally get up and get my carry on because I always carry a pashmina like shawl in it in case I get cold on the plane. I'm thinking at this point that the $25 sacrifice is worth it. I do NOT want that thing back. While I'm digging, she stands up and wanders off towards the front of the plane. She comes back in about 5 minutes wearing a man's t-shirt that is very tight on her. My husband saw her talking to a younger man towards the front. Apparently, she was with more than just the woman who tried to take my seat.

Are we done, yet? No, we are not. Just before landing, we were served a light breakfast in a box. When she was done, guess where she put her box of breakfast trash? Back on the sloped emergency exit door..... And, within a few seconds, it was on the floor and she was picking it all up.

At first I wondered why she and her friends were not sitting together, but, perhaps I know why they weren't. I suspect they were happy to have her sit elsewhere......
