SUSIE KING TAYLOR PLAY AT THE ATLANTA BLACK THEATRE FESTIVAL
History Theatre will present a staged reading of “WHAT A WONDERFUL REVOLUTION!” SUSIE KING TAYLOR at the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival on Friday, August 30th. The presentation will be held at 10 AM in the Pecan Room at the Holiday Inn & Suites Atlanta Airport North, 1380 Virginia Avenue.
The play, written by History Theatre founders Lorrie and Fritz Rumpel, is based on Taylor’s Civil War memoir, REMINISCENCES OF MY LIFE IN CAMP. Taylor, who spent her formative years in Savannah, was the first teacher (at age 13) of freed African-American children, the first Black nurse in American history and the author of the only Civil War memoir written by a Black woman.
The Atlanta Black Theatre Festival will also screen the docudrama FORTY ACRES AND A MULE, which was created and produced by the Rumpels. It will be presented on August 30th at 2:15 PM in the Tulip Room at the Holiday Inn.
Tickets for each event are $25 and may be purchased here: https://abtf.ludus.com/index.php?step=seats
