This was our trip to Copenhagen for our daughter’s wedding. The planning was mostly done by the bride and groom (and was spectacular!)

However, before we left my husband realized his US passport had expired and we didn’t have time to renew it before we left. That was fine as he has a French passport. We uploaded his passport to the airline, we checked in at the airport with his French passport, no problems. However, when we went to leave Copenhagen for home he was unable to leave because he didn’t have a visa. We immediately knew this would be something our app would flag and make the traveler aware of in the future!!

We truly loved our trip to Marrakesh for our honeymoon. But even us who are building an app that will produce amazing itineraries personalized for us made somw human errors when planning this trip without our app (it wasn’t ready yet.)

1. We were so excited about going to Morocco we totally forgot to look at the weather. 110 degrees was pretty much the norm. Which meant less tourists but also meant we were very limited in what we could do.

2. We had spoken to a few people who had been to Morocco, got their itineraries, asked questions, got recommendations..but no one mentioned that local culture was to consistently have people trying to es**rt us to various places but expecting payment and usually trying to get us to give them even more money then we felt comfortable giving. We wished we had been more prepared for this experience.

3. We knew various places we wanted to do day trips to but we didn’t really plan what we would do once we got to those places so spent a lot of time walking around looking for lunch spots, or stuff to do.

We can’t wait for our app to be released because our app will
solve for all of those little things that can go wrong!

Before our inspirational trip to Santa Barbara we went to Munich to visit our daughter Sophie. We took the three teens and spent the week with Sophie and Johannes. Sophie and Johannes did an amazing job of planning the week for activities that would be good for the teens but in true teen fashion we had to pivot multiple times or cancel planned activities. Part of our app development is to account for the various people on a group trip and make planning for all easier as well as making it super easif you have to pivot in the moment!

This trip is truly the inspiration behind our platform. For Christmas 2022 Francois had the clever idea for my gift. The 12 days leading up to Christmas he would leave a small gift on my bedside table. Each gift was a clue that would reveal the present. Day 1 he left me small magnets of seahorses, starfish, and water. I immediately guessed Santa Barbara. He was like stop ruining this clever idea! There is more to the gifts than just where we may or may not be going.
So here is a run down of the gifts:

He was like wow this is amazing now all I have to do is execute on this plan!

So he begins to “plan” the trip. After two days he comes to me and says “How long does it normally take you to plan a trip?”
I said well there is the pre-research about a location. Thats usually a few weeks. Then there is the hotel research and activity research and mapping another few weeks. Then the booking of flights researching best prices, routes, points usage, that can be a couple days. the strucing the trip. Day 1, Day 2, Day 3…etc thats a good 1-2 weeks.
He was like that’s insane, this is so complicated, and hard! There has to be an app!
I was like trust me there is not.
He goes and does research and is like hmm there is not.
He tries using ChatGPT but the data is old (we found it recommended places that were closed or didn’t exist) and there is no mapping ability (the itinerary it created looked but wasn’t realistic in terms of mapping or ability to do that in a day) nor can you book anything with ChatGPT.
Francois says “We can build an app, it will save people time! But even more it will give them a a single platform to plan, book, and feel confident about their experience!!

And so Bon Voyage was born!!
