TOP AIRPLANE ETIQUETTE RULES
1. Utilize the overhead space above your seat row. Do not place your bags overhead at the front of the plane unless you are sitting in that row.
2. If you can’t lift your own bag, don’t carry it on. Despite what you believe, it’s not the flight attendant’s job to hoist your heavy bags for you.
3. The middle seat gets dibs on the armrests. The middle seat sucks. For this reason, the person in the middle seat gets use of both armrests. But that doesn’t mean they have permission to splay their legs into your space or fall asleep on your shoulder.
4. Stand up to let your neighbors through. Don’t do the half lift, shimmy to the side, or awkward lean back. Stand up, unbuckle your seatbelt, and stand in the aisle. It’s a good excuse to stretch your legs at the same time. Win-win.
5. Don't recline on short-haul flights. Reclining your seat should be reserved for flights longer than 3 hours.
6. Keep in mind your screen is visible to those behind you. If your movie has nudity, graphic violence, etc. it may offend the more sensitive viewers (e.g. children) looking on.
7. Wear headphones. This includes kids watching movies or playing games on their iPads.
8. Wait your turn to exit the plane. Be patient and just wait till your aisle is up to grab your bag and exit.
9. Avoid grabbing the back of someone’s seat when you sit down, get up, or walk down the aisle.
10. Keep Your Shoes On. Taking off your shoes is rude and unhygienic.
11. The person by the window controls the window shade. Ask nicely if you want them to lower it.
12. Control your children. Nothing is cute or amusing about getting the back of your seat kicked, your hair pulled, or watching someone else’s children running like wild banshees up and down the aisle. Crying babies are an exception. That baby is a baby, and cannot control its actions.
13. Consider your odor. Overly strong perfume or cologne can be just as offensive as BO in close quarters.
14. Speak
