OUR STYLE - Every once in a while we have guests who really didn't understand what they were renting: a quintessential 1930s-era lakeside cottage. Lovingly restored to its era's charm and simplicity. A recent HGTV article: 40 Things That Make Your House Look Dated. There were before & after pictures of trendy kitchens, baths, and bedrooms that were all "gorgeous" in their day. Easily 30k worth of suggested updates! No. We can't keep up. That is why we decided to really "date" our cottage by choosing items reminiscent of times gone by with a focus on the the1930s, the '40s, and '50s.... "timeless"......when the cottage was in its heyday and in full swing of entertainment and gatherings. We basically stopped the clock and upgraded the behind-the-scenes things like wiring, plumbing, and insulation. We kept the well-loved furniture that found a new life and purpose at the cottage. Well-loved items we remember growing up will remain....the oil lamp, old photos, bird books, binoculars, bedspreads, matlasse coverlets, the glider, wicker chairs, rockers, Adirondack chairs, duck decoys, ....after seeing some of the bathroom fixtures in a restoration store for a lot of money, we chose to keep two bathrooms as original as possible. The bathrooms are small because nobody lingered in a bathroom when the lake and the great outdoors were waiting to be enjoyed. Rental information can be found at Houfy.com/7886

Review~“Quintessential Vermont Rustic/Boutique Lakehouse with EVERYTHING you could want or need!!!”This Lakehouse is easy access yet feels like you have the whole lake to yourself! My friends and family enjoyed a much delayed reunion and had a great time there! The views of the lake from the front yard chairs, or from the huge screened in porch are simply breathtaking! The house itself is a combination of rustic, artsy, beautifully appointed with high end bath and bedroom amenities. You will be amazed that these hosts have thought of everything you can imagine you might want or need while you're there. The kitchen has every type of item you might need and a cabinet with spices, sugar, jams, etc. Called a "give and take"... Take what you need, leave something you don't need... beautiful! The beds were vintage and comfy, rooms decorated with a total Vermont vibe! Just beautiful and totally functional, from chargers for your phones, bedside lamps, heaters, fans... Extra blankets!! EVERYTHING!! There are kayaks, boats, a dock for fishing, games, ping pong table, bad mitton net, hammocks, hot tub, .. and more! Just amazing!!!! You will not be disappointed!! Great vacation experience !
