One of the first railway locomotives was built in 1825 by two English engineers George and Robert Stephenson. This vehicle was named Locomotion No. 1, which, frankly, sounds fancier than CHANEL N° 5.

Dutch kids receive their first traffic lessons at school as young as 5, which is one of the reasons why wearing helmets is not compulsory. The recent mandatory bicycle helmet law in Western Australia has led to a huge decline in cycle use, and we don't want this to happen in Amsterdam 🚲 🌷 🚲

Elizabeth II took a decision to discontinue driving on public roads. Earlier this year, Prince Philip (the Queen's husband) voluntarily gave up his driving licence after being involved in a car accident.
Did you know that the Queen does not need a driving licence? All the UK driving licences are issued in her name. 😎

Vondelpark is the largest park in Amsterdam. It is named after the 17th-century poet and playwright Joost van den Vondel. 📖 Don't be surprised to see green parakeets, they live perfectly well in urbanised areas. There are around 20.000 of them in the Netherlands and Belgium, and they are believed to originate from North Africa or South Asia.

Colourful calico cat in Amsterdam, the name comes from the type of cotton fabric invented in Calicut (now this Indian city is called Kozhikode). Plenty of typical Dutch brown cafés (bruin café) keep cats to create cosy atmosphere.
