❄️Our guests were in for a treat when they woke up this morning! ❄️ Perfect hot tub weather!

Our midweeks are booking up through Jan and Feb. This is our cheapest time of year to stay so no wonder people are grabbing these bargain winter breaks.
In fact if you want a weekend away with us you’ll have to look at dates beyond Feb unless you are free on the 9th of Feb?
We also have some dates remaining for Feb half term too. 9th-15th. Very rare as school hols usually go first!

We’re heading back into stargazing season. The Lodge @ Beacon Fell is in a dark sky discovery site so it’s the perfect spot to check out the Milky Way.

🍕Testing out the new pizza oven for The Lodge 🍕

I was a bit skeptical that a BBQ top pizza oven would work so well! 10mins to heat up and 3 mins to cook a delicious tasting pizza.👌It’s a great addition to our amenities!

Hills #13 & #14
My walk this morning started by climbing Beacon Hill and then tracking along the edge of Grindleton Forest up to the summit of Easington Fell sitting at 396m.
I was treated to 4 beautiful deer skipping across my path. 🦌

Now to Clitheroe for lunch and cinema!
Hope everyone’s enjoying their bank weekend too!

Hill #12 of 40 nearly killed me!
Totridge Fell standing at 497m is my biggest hill yet so I probably shouldn’t have attempted it after a few weeks off any sort of exercise 😂 too much too soon. My quads are still screaming two days later!

At least there was no one there to see me struggle! 😥

If you really want to work those quads when you visit the Lodge then Totridge Fell is for you! The views are incredible all the way up. All my routes are available via the link in our bio.

We’re pretty much fully booked until September now but autumn is a great time for walking holidays. Check our availability now!

🍺10 of the best country pubs in our little corner of Lancashire to try this bank holiday!🍺

This collection of amazing pubs have got it all!
Some stand out for their exceptional dining experiences like Ye Horns Inn , The Parkers Arms Derby Arms, Longridge Farmers Arms, Great Eccleston The Cartford Inn

Others for their incredible views from their terrace or beer garden like The Spread Eagle Mellor Inn At Whitewell Shireburn Arms Assheton Arms The Dog Inn Longridge

I love that they all promote local produce and show off the work of local breweries and distilleries.

Which one will you try this weekend?

Last night we were in food heaven at 😋
Their 8 course tasting menu was easily the best meal I have ever eaten!
The service was incredible and we loved hearing the story behind each ingredient, bottle of wine and also the visit to the cheese room. Yes I said cheese ROOM! 🙌🏻
It was also great to meet the man behind the food His kitchen was like a well oiled machine. We were blown away by the whole experience!

This 2 Michelin star rated restaurant is a 50mm drive from
I would happily drive the length of the entire UK to experience the food again!
You’ll need to be super organised to get yourself booked in to coincide with your stay with us. Book well in advance!
The sister restaurant The Barn has also just been awarded its own Michelin star so also worth checking out.

In the name of research for our guests I will definitely be checking out some other Michelin starred restaurants in our locality soon…

Hill #11 of 40 did not disappoint!
The weather was perfect for the climb up today.
As the sign at the bottom states- it’s a very hilly hill!
I think my legs will be screaming tomorrow but it was worth it for the stunning views.
I love to spot Beacon Fell from other hills and managed to get a shot of it from the trig point.

We chickened out of the route starting in Downham and opted to park on Barley Lane. I’ve made a promise to do the longer walk when we don’t need to be back for the school run!

The Lodge is the perfect base for a walking holiday. There’s so many great walks just from the doorstep and even more within a 30min drive.

May is great walking weather- not to hot and definitely drier than early spring. Check our availability using the link in our bio.

Fancy a day out in Clitheroe?
The first of our guest itineraries is ready to share!

Last week I spent a glorious day in Clitheroe “researching”. It was mostly a feast for the eyes- and my belly! 😂
Sooo much to see and do in Clitheroe and it’s only a 30min drive from the lodge. A foodies dream!
I know I’ve barely scratched the surface of what this town has to offer and I also know I’ll be heading back soon!

🐓The chucks are on the loose again!🐓
It’s been a long 6 months for the girls but now they are back to their usual free range roaming…

Eating my grass seed, scratching up my plants, laying their eggs all over the bloody garden, and fertilising the lawn with all their 💩!

I wouldn’t have it any other way 🤣 They are so much happier when they can roam and we get more eggs! Bonus!

Come and say hello to the girls when you stay with us.
We’re hoping to add some more when our new coop arrives 😀

Wednesday was a bit dull which unfortunately made for a pretty uninspiring walk up hill #10 of 40. So I thought I’d lead with a nice pic of the Lodge instead! 😂

I’ve wanted to climb the hills I’ve noticed on my “scenic” route to Lancaster for sometime. The views are usually stunning!
So last Wednesday I needed to fit a short hill walk in before the Easter hols.
I picked Grizedale Fell.
I’m not going to lie it was a bit bleak up there 😂 definitely one for a clear day. No reward of a stunning view at the top so it was lucky I’d taken a flask and some biscuits!

Here I am on International Women’s Day sat on top of the trig point after conquering hill #9 of 40!

Thankful to all the women who have gone before us and the progress towards that has been made. I promise to do my bit in continuing their work for the sake of my children and their children’s children.

I’m starting by reclaiming my fitness by walking 40 hills this year! Every hill holds a different challenge and the self doubt creeps in- BUT I always make it. I’m planning some really big hills for later this spring. Eek!
If you’re feeling inspired you’ll soon be able to access all my routes and try them out yourself.

Today I was just outside of Lancaster climbing Clougha Pike. The tough ascent in the freezing cold wind was rewarded by views of the coast and the mountains in The Lake District & Yorkshire Dales.

Hill #8 of 40 took me to the Lake District.

What better way to celebrate my 40th than by dragging my lovely friends and sister up quite a steep fell the other weekend. We were wishing we hadn’t stayed up quite so late the night before 😂

The Lakes are around an hours drive from so it’s the perfect base for exploring.

Any guesses which hill we climbed? We had views looking out over lake Windermere on the way up and Grasmere on the way down.

We got treated to the Northern Lights in our back garden last night!

Makes up for not seeing them in Iceland last month 😂

The Lodge @ Beacon Fell is situated in an official Dark Skies Discovery Site in the Forest of Bowland. So the sky is always so full of stars.

The hot tub is perfectly positioned for watching the Moon rise over Beacon Fell and taking in all the stars. It’s a great spot for sky gazing!

We have only one weekend available in March and then you’ll have to wait until April for a weekend break.

Hill #6 completed yesterday! Had a week off as we had a quick trip over to Iceland.
It’s an easy one for you! The kids managed to get all the way to the top and most of the way down. But the little one’s legs stopped working- see pics 😂

Hill #5 of 40. Not much in the way of clues today! It was like walking IN a cloud.
Usually this hill boasts one of the best views in Lancashire right the way out to Blackpool tower. Just not today!

Yesterday I climbed hill #4 of 40!
It was of course Longridge Fell!
Well done to those who guessed correctly! The views were a bit of a giveaway.

This hill (the most southerly fell) was one of the many reasons we chose to move to this corner of the Earth.

The views from all sides of the fell are truly spectacular.

☀️Stunning sunrise this morning!☀️At this time of year the sun peeps up from behind the fell at around half nine!
