Zeeland-Netherlands
Kilometers of beautiful sandy beaches that you fall in love at first sight.

A walk along these beaches is pure Zen, ideal for meditation and lazing around.

Near Vlissingen you will come across a small part of the Dutch coast facing south, which will enchant you with its beauty.

Nearby is the small village of Zoutelande with its specific microclimate. The highest number of sunny days in a year and a temperature significantly higher than the Dutch average.

It may not be among the most visited attractions in Belgium, but if you are somewhere around Herentals, then you should definitely visit this small city.
One of the reasons - a unique UNESCO Heritage.

Begijnhof in Herentals is a beautiful historic site located in the heart of this Belgian city.

• The Begijnhof in Herentals was founded in the 13th century and was home to a community of Beguines, a religious order of women who lived a pious and celibate life.

• The Begijnhof was originally built as a walled complex to protect the Beguines from the outside world. The walls were up to 3 meters thick and were reinforced with towers and gates.

• Today, the Begijnhof is a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the houses and gardens have been restored to their original condition.

• This is one of the best-preserved Beguinages in Flanders and it was a filming location for several movies and TV show

• You can visit here Beguinage church, the St. Catherine Chapel, and the Beguinage Museum.

• The historic houses and gardens have been preserved and are still used as residences.

Today, the houses in the Beguinage are owned by private individuals, and are highly sought after due to their unique historical and cultural value.

However, because the houses are located in a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site, there are strict rules and regulations governing any renovations or modifications that can be made to them.

What is absolutely stunning, is the peace and quiet after you enter this area. We enjoyed a bit of silence on the bench under the huge mournful willow.

"Stolpersteine" is an art project for Europe by Gunter Demnig to commemorate victims of National Socialism (Na**sm).

Here in Dordrecht, like in many other cities in Europe, mainly in Germany, the memorials also can be found.

Stolpersteine (Stumbling stones) are small, 10x10cm copper plaques placed in the pavement in front of the last residence of (mostly Jewish) victims who were murdered by the N***s. Each plaque is engraved with the victim’s name, date of birth, and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

By doing this, Gunter Demnig gives an individual memorial to each victim. One stone, one name, one person.

He cites the Talmud: "A human being is forgotten only when his or her name is forgotten."

Zandpoort

The Zandpoort is one of two old city gates, on the Zandstraat in Belgian Herentals.

The Zandpoort is first mentioned in 1402. The facade is covered with gobertange limestone.

In 1643, the gate was thoroughly repaired and renovated, giving it a flat facade in austere Renaissance style on the outside.
The last restoration dates from 2007.herentals

When in Sarajevo, don't miss to visit this gorgeous building which was built as a City Hall in 1892-1894 during Austro-Hungarian period. This was the last stop for Franz Ferdinand in 1914. After the WWII it was National Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the siege of Sarajevo, this historical monument was burnt down, along with the collections of the National and University Library.

The City Hall was recently renovated (2014) and remains one of the most impressive attractions in Sarajevo.

The pseudo-Moorish building honored the Muslim background of this Austro-Hungarian territory.

Today, the authentic courtroom of the Hague Tribunal, which was given as a gift to the city of Sarajevo after the trials were completed, is placed in the town hall as part of the permanent exhibition.

Sarajevo, the city where East meets West, the city of friendly people and excellent food, the heroic city that most of the people remember because of the civil war in early 90's.
After almost 30 years you can still see, mostly on the outskirts of the city, some
consequences that remind of those terrible years.  People here don't like to talk about it anymore, but somehow the memories are everywhere.

People here are full of spirit and love to joke, they are hospitable, warm and always make sure you have eaten enough.

The magnificent architecture is a strong combination of influences from the East and West of Europe, mostly the Ottoman Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. One of the most remarkable buildings is City Hall, that absolutely express that impact.

In 1984 the city was hosting atleets from around the world for winter Olympics. Sarajevo is still very proud of it and to honor that you can visit Olympic museum.

But the most important thing when you leave the city, you will still remember the smell and the taste. The food is delicious and that is the reason why the most older part of the city is also the most popular - Baščaršija. Charming old city is full of mosques, pastry shops, old fashion bars, souvenirs shops and old crafts shops. Weekends here are crowded, it seems  like everyone wants to warm up the soul with this charming old town spirit.

Big portions of tasty food, specially Čevapčići and pita are everyone's favourite. But the real deal is when you find yourself on Slatko ćoše (Sweet corner) and want to try some sweets and cakes from one of 3 pastry shops.

This city will by no means leave you indifferent.  And once you drink the water from their spring, you keep coming back (says the legend).

de Bueren is a 374-step in  , Belgium. The staircase is named after Vincent de Bueren, who defended Liège against an attack by the Duke of Burgundy, Charles the Bold in the 15th century. It was built in 1881 to honour the 600 soldiers who died in the battle.

Nowadays, tourists flock to Montagne de Bueren to take photos and climb to the top for a beautiful view over Liège. Locals use it as a place to get in some fitness.

Fun extreme fact, in July 2020 a local resident went up and down the stairs a whopping 135 times – while carrying a 15 kg backpack! The extreme 9000 meter climb simulated a Mount Everest ascent and took around 65 hours to complete.

Of course I had to clime up too, but only once up and down 😁 My darling found it extremely not funny 😂 🤣...

In the end, I have to say that I sympathize with those who live somewhere in the middle of the staircase and have to bring shopping home🙈🙃

This gorgeous church is situated in Thionville, French city in Province of Lorraine (famous for quiche Lorraine).

The Saint-Joseph-de-Beauregard cathedral is certainly the most famous religious building in all of northern Moselle.  Why ?  Because it is seen, every day, by thousands of drivers.  The church is so close to the A31 that you can almost touch it through your car window.

Its history dates back to 1863, when the Brothers of the Christian Schools launched the construction of a church, inspired by the cathedral of Metz (big city close to Thionville) and it was completed in 1870.

Unfortunately, this magnificent architecture is abandoned and almost always closed. The beautiful neo-Gothic cathedral is seriously demagde due to location right on the highway. Pity...

Nonetheless, if you are near by come to see this gorgeous church and if you are lucky enough it will be open that day.
And of course don't forget to try local delicates, quiche Lorraine with a glass of French white wine. 😊🥂🥧

Cisterns (in Istria cisterna or šterna) are used to collect rainwater.  Due to the relatively dry climate with little precipitation the construction of cisterns has always been a necessary for survival, especially in the west. and southeastern Istria.
The Romans built cisterns to collect rainwater even when they could use living water sources.

Bale - Little pearl in the southern part of Istria between P**a and Rovinj.
Often you do not know what makes you fall in love with something. It is hard to explain, a bit mysterious, and inexplicable.
The same way I also experienced this lovely town when I visited it for the first time a long time ago.
Are these the narrow alleys that hide stories or old stone houses, some are somewhat ruined but majestic in their mystery, or charming details in its streets and behind the old walls? What attracts people to this small town on the top of a hill where most of it you can see in about 15 minutes, it is hard to say. But people have been coming back on weekends or vacations for years. They are just mesmerised by this picturesque medieval town.
The Central building at the main square is old Palace Bembo, which often serves as a background for theatre performances or concerts. Bale is known as the largest butterfly site in the world. That's why the butterfly is the symbol of this town. About 390 different species of butterflies are registered here.
Walking through the narrow streets of the old part of the town, you will notice the domination of the old stone houses, typical for Istria. Although some are refurbished, the owners still retain the old-fashioned flair that gives them a distinctive character. In summer, this town lives intensively thanks to the many tourists who visit it to enjoy the loveliness of these medieval streets, delicacies of local restaurants, widely known cream-puff-cake, to buy homemade olive oil or some souvenir.
Following a 6 km long curvy road from town down to the sea, also known as a Boulevard World Genius, you can enjoy monumental sculptures dedicated to the world's greatest minds.
At the end of that road, you will reach camping Mon Perin where you can relax and enjoy the blue of the sea and the long rocky and pebble beaches. At the campsite, you can also visit one of the local attractions - Paleo Park - a pool complex that tells the story of dinosaurs and their history in this area. Kids love this place.

One of the most stunning sunsets in your life you can also experience here. As the legend says, that was the spot where also Casanova used to enjoy a sunset in one of his love stories.

The narrow and cobbled streets hide many unrevealed stories in Bale.
Maybe you will be the one to discover yours

The Porta Gemina - Dvojna vrata - is a Roman city gate located in P**a. It was built during the late 2nd century. The Porta gemina is a double arched gate. It was one of the ten city gates of P**a, standing at the north side of the capitol.

During its history, P**a was encircled by walls, from Antiquity until recently, when they were knocked down due to the town expanding. There were about ten gates providing the entrance into the town, of which the Twin Gates and a part of the walls connecting them to Giardini square are still visible today.
In the course of the vehement medieval period, and for the purpose of the best possible defense of the town, the gates were buried underground, and only just recently dug out and conserved. The Twin Gates, also known as Porta Gemina, were named after its two semi-circular openings leading into the town, built in the period from the 2nd until the 3rd cc. on the remains of an earlier town gate. They were decorated by three semi-columns with composite capitals, and the relief wreath above connecting the composition into a harmonious unit. The arches still show the openings used for closing the gate and preventing the unwanted from entering the town.
The Twin Gates also contain the plate with the name of Lucius Menacius Priscus, a town councilman and a senator, who personally funded the construction of one of the town's water supply networks. The plate was not originally part of the monument. It was found next to it. Pietro Kandler had it built in its upper central part in the late 19th c. By passing through the gates in front of which the remains of a partially reconstructed octagonal mausoleum from the 2nd or 3rd cc. were found, we reach the present day Archeological Museum, the Castle and the Small Roman Theater.

To me, these magnificent Roman monuments look especially attractive at night.

The Višnjan observatory... Just a 5 min away from Višnjan in a small village named Tićan you can find one of the top five observatories in the world in collecting more near-Earth object(NEO) measurements to determine if they are a threat to Earth.
The observatory is headed by Korado Korlević, a prolific astronomer and discoverer of minor planets.

This observatory has discovered more than 1500 new asteroids and two comets. Today, Višnjan is one of the world’s most productive solar-system-mapping research centres, and it is part of world scientific history.

Here you can also find the Istrian Stonehenge which is based on the idea and under the leadership of the Observatory, and Bild with the help of the community. It is a functional reconstruction of the prehistoric stone circle from the small St. Angel, which is located in the hinterland of the city of Poreč and is the only one of its kind in Croatia.

The symbol of the city of P**a is the Roman amphitheater known as Arena.
This most important and famous monument in P**a, Croatia, is the starting point of every sightseeing tour in this city.
The spectacular monument was constructed between 27 BC and 68 AD as the city of P**a became a regional center of Roman rule, called Pietas Julia, and is among the world's 6 largest surviving Roman amphitheaters.
It is the only remaining Roman amphitheater to have four side towers entirely preserved.
The Arena was used once only for gladiator fights.
The underground passages, once used by the gladiators, nowadays host a regular exhibition of viticulture and olive growing in Istria in ancient times. The exhibits include reconstructions of machines once used for the production of olive oil and wine (mills, presses, vessels) and amphorae used for storing and transporting olive oil and wine.
Today Arena is used as a venue for many concerts, P**a film festival, opera and many more.
Undoubtedly a must-visit in this 3000 years old city!

This is one of my favorite photos, taken on one hot summer day at 6am while waiting for a boat to Red island or St. Andrija island.

The picturesque Istrian town of Rovinj is one of the big Croatian tourism brands.
Situated in the south-west part of the Istrians peninsula, with a huge Italian influence in architecture and language, this town with a character hides a lot of fascinating and beautiful stories.

Lately, you have seen a lot of scenery from this lovely town in movies: Hitman's wife's bodyguard, Heineken commercial with Daniel Craig (James Bond) in a high-speed boat chase or Gordon Ramsey's cooking show.
This gorgeous little town hides a lot of peculiar shops in a maze of very narrow streets, plenty of excellent restaurants with tasty Mediterranean food (some of them sporting Michelin stars) and galleries with extraordinary artworks. Every summer on the second Sunday of August, from the morning till the evening hours, a little street called Grisia becomes the most crowded expositional open-air salon, not just for local artists but also for artists from other parts of Croatia as well as from abroad.

For an evening walk, you can choose the enjoyable promenade along with the port or a beautiful old town where the ancient steep alleys lead you to the top of the hill. On the top of the hill, you will find the famous Church of St. Euphemia with the bell tower from the 12th century. There you can enjoy the extraordinary view over the sea and town.
Rovinj's Old Town is one of the best-preserved and breathtaking parts of all of Istria.

U Nizozemskoj postoji grad u kojem bismo svi trebali uzeti primjer kako živjeti zajedno i poštovati jedni druge.

Jednom kada ste u Baarle-Nassau, vjerojatno ste u Nizozemskoj u Belgiji u Nizozemskoj, a odmah preko ceste ste u Belgiji u Nizozemskoj u Belgiji u Nizozemskoj. Jeste skužili? 😁

A kako znaš kad si u kojem dijelu?

Prijateljski savjet.

Naziv Shete Boka znači sedam uvala u kojima možete uživati u spektakularnom prizoru velikih valova koji udaraju o stijene i pokazuju snagu Atlantskog oceana.

Bezbojna riba iglica.
