Attraction: Antelope, Canyon – Lower Canyon

Travel Highlight

During my solo trip through Arizona packed my Jeep and drove two hours from Flagstaff to Page, Arizona into Navajo Nation with the hopes of exploring a few of their most popular destinations, Antelope Canyon, Lake Powell, and Horseshoe Bend. To my disappointment, Horseshoe Bend was closed due to extreme weather in the region. It’s still on the bucket list! I started my day of exploration at the Antelope Canyon Marina with a short boat trip through Lake Powell. The second-largest man-made reservoir in the United States. (Travel Tip: Look into renting a houseboat)

The next stop of my journey was Antelope Canyon! First off, it’s hot and the entrance is exposed so I would suggest a hat or an umbrella to combat the rays. Antelope Canyon is a beautiful mix of flowing rocks and desert tranquility. I bought tickets online for the lower canyon which is less expensive, a more challenging hike, and more picturesque (according to my tour guide). See for yourself.

Travel Note: Visitors must pay a national park service entrance fee to enter the marina, not included with the cost of tickets.

Pack: Sunscreen, sunglasses, walking shoes, water or energy drink, and a small umbrella.
