Childsplay Pat and I went on a little walk around Newcastle Harbour this afternoon and the sky was MAD! So many awesome colours and seeing this storm rolling in over honeysuckle was amazing 😍✨👌

If you're in Newcastle on a Sunday, make sure you walk up to the lighthouse to check out the beautiful views. It's open 10-4, with a cafe as well, giant chess and connect 4. It's great to walk around the grounds and that view 😍✨👌

The littlest childsplay traveler turned 11 today! And she even got her letter to Hogwarts! I can't wait to take her to the wizarding world of Harry Potter so we can see if she gets through platform 9 3/4 😝 Love you Maia, happy birthday!

Great rockpools and caves to check out at Catherine Hill Bay Beach - awesome place for a day trip, feels like we've been on holiday! Yay for exploring new places. Yay for 27 degrees a week before winter starts! ✨😊👍🏻

It has been such a spectacular day today, a little adventure was in order! Exploring new places is always fun, so today we went to Catherine Hill Bay. It is about an hour or so north of Sydney and 40 mins from Newcastle, just off the Old Pacific Highway near Swansea. Such a pretty part of the world, glorious beach and rocks to explore around the old jetty. Highly recommended 👍🏻

We were so lucky to see the MOST AMAZING sunset tonight. The sky was full of spectacular colour for more than half an hour! It was Maia thought it was a daytime aurora 😍🌅

Some adventure days don't go quite to plan, but we did have fun playing tourists at home and going to two places around Newy we haven't been before - redhead beach and Dudley beach. Dudley beach is foot access as it turns out (I should have checked the map first hahaha) so after a pretty little bushwalk, we ended up at the south end of Dudley Beach with some fun rocks to explore around. The kite plan went out the window though. We went and bought a kite, brought it down to the beach with us and the wind completely went away 😝

Our family adventure day wasn't totally as expected due to some rather rainy weather, so we ended up having a picnic in the car overlooking redhead beach, trying to think of things to do in the rain we haven't done before... We might go get a kite 😝🌧💨

Another afternoon in Autumn, another swim at the beach. Got this school holiday chilled out vibes going good 👍🏻✨😊 I didn't swim cos I thought it would be too cold so didn't take my togs, but regretted that as the water is still pretty warm! I don't think this summer ever wants to end ❤️☀️🌊

We had a fun and rather adventurous morning at Glenrock State Conservation area this morning :) in the distance, you can see the walking path with a gentle incline and possibly thong friendly path and in front of us, was the totally not thong friendly (but fun) steep rocky trail to Burwood Beach from the Hangliding takeoff point. Next time, we might wear some shoes 😝 This awesome spot is only 10 mins drive from central Newcastle, how awesome is that! I ❤️ Newy

Going to Canterbury Museum was a huge trip down memory lane, some of the exhibits are the same as I was when I went there as a kid! (Christchurch Street) 😝 Our favourite was the Paua house. Fred and Myrtle from Bluff turned their quirky kiwi house into a tourist attraction for years and now it is part of the museum. It even had the same carpet as my Dad's house 😄 I even managed to get a pic of the increasingly camera shy 👍🏻😊 This great museum is free and you'll find it near the Botanic Gardens.

With so many buildings gone in Christchurch's CBD after the earthquakes, there are a lot of bare spaces. It's awesome seeing them being filled with cool art and sculptures, like this one on Armagh Street.

New Regent Street still manages to be a bustling area, despite the tram not currently going there, due to damage from the most recent earthquake in February. It's such a cute and funky little street, I'm so glad it most of managed to survive!

Behind the Transitional Cathedral in Christchurch, is a sobering reminder of the lives that were lost in the Earthquake 4 years ago. One white chair for each of the 185 victims, each one different. Hard to comprehend how frightening that day would have been 😢

Maia discovered this beautiful little bush tunnel, during our quick bush walk around the Port Hills, Christchurch. There are heaps of walking tracks, we started and finished at the Sign of the Kiwi. The bush tunnel and some spectacular views made this walk a highlight of our time in Christchurch 😍

With so many buildings no longer there after the Christchurch Earthquakes, many of the buildings that are left, feature some super cool street art! I think this is the only building left on this entire block!!

This amazing seat with a view was the perfect spot to sit for a while and enjoy the serenity. Looking out over Hanmer Springs, the mountains and the Waiou River in the distance, I was awed and humbled by how beautiful this place is 😊😍✨❤️🇳🇿

This was the burger I had today - Dotti - which has salt n pepper tofu, eggplant chilli relish, slaw and mayo, was yum! You can see Patrick's The Maple - pulled pork, bacon, slaw in the background. Thanks Hello Kitty Diner! Maia is still on a high from going there 😝

Yep, she loved it! It was hello kitty heaven for Maia! I've seen some very average reviews for the food, so I wasn't expecting anything special, but as a vego, my burger was pretty good! Food is pretty expensive for what it is, but we were here for the experience and this little hello kitty fan girl LOVED every minute 😊❤️

Wow, this place has changed a lot since I last came here as a kid! Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools is SO worth a visit, it's worth going to Hanmer just for this! There are the super hot sulphur pools, adults only hydrotherapy spa pools, the big hot pools I remember going in as a little kid, plus water slides and two big heated family pools! Three hours was not enough, the kids are already begging to go back!

I've been back to Christchurch quite a few times since the earthquakes, but this is the first time I've visited the "cardboard cathedral". This was build after the Earthquake caused irreparable damage to Chch's iconic Cathedral in the square, as a temporary alternative. It's a very funky building and worth a visit if you find yourself in Christchurch 👍🏻✨😊

We did lots of exploring around Christchurch today. This is the view from one side of the Sugarloaf walk on the Port Hills, looking out over Lyttelton Harbour. Such a magnificent view! ❤️😍👌
