Jay Leno Named Godfather of Carnival Venezia

Move over, Al Pacino. Carnival Cruise Line revealed that its renovated and reimagined cruise ship Carnival Venezia, the first of the line’s Fun Ship Italian-style vessels, will have a godfather rather than a godmother.

Comedian and late-night talk show host Jay Leno, who is of Italian heritage, will serve as godfather during the ship’s naming ceremony in New York June 14. It’s a first for the line, which has always chosen a godmother for its new ships. Carnival Venezia is not a new-build. The vessel was transferred from sister Carnival Corporation brand Costa Cruises last fall and underwent a bow-to-stern refit, bringing her in line with Carnival Cruise Line standards and updating her Italian flair. Leno, who hails from New Rochelle, New York, is the grandson of immigrants from Flumeri, Campania, Italy. Carnival Venezia will home port in New York, sailing a variety of Bermuda, Bahamas, Canada, New England, and longer Caribbean itineraries, through mid-December 2024, after which she will be redeployed to Port Canaveral to offer Eastern, Western, and Southern Caribbean cruises and Panama Canal sailings.

TEMPORARY CHANGES.....

As previously announced and discussed the current and temporary staffing shortages across the fleet, and I dare say the entire cruise industry, has had an adverse affect in some areas including of course service to YOU - our guests.
Please note that CCL is working hand-in-hand with the US State Department to clear the way and speed up the process in which new crew replacements may receive their all important work visa's allowing them to come onboard to work and of course provide YOU with great service.
As such a few service related areas have been impacted. Here is a listing of some recently announced albeit temporary suspension changes some guest may experience onboard now through June 30th 2022.

VIFP DIAMOND AND PLATINUM......
Diamond Gathering will be temporarily suspended. Guests will receive $50 OBC plus 2 cocktail vouchers on sail and sign card.
Diamond and Platinum Reunion will be temporarily suspended. Guests will receive 2 cocktail vouchers on sail and sign card.

FOOD AND RESTAURANT......
* The Chef's Table has been temporarily suspended Cucina del Capitano will be closed for dinner service fleet wide with the exception of Carnival Mardi Gras. Some select Cucina menu items will be available for no cost on the regular MDR menu.
* Room Service Breakfast - guests need to call room service to place an order.
* Pizza Pirate and Pizza Del Capitano will temporarily not be available 24/7 and closed from 3:00 AM -10:00 AM.
* The Military Appreciation and Tea Party will be temporarily suspended until further notice and hopefully reinstated soon.

AND FINALLY.......
No one is more disappoited in this matter than the current crew onboard who have had contracts extended keeping them away from their families as well as those crew members that are being prevented from joining their FUN ships and serving YOU.
