The Melody Men of Brighton & Hove We are a duo who believe that group singing can add a real sense of well being: we sing favourites from the war years through to the 1960s!

We bring live music to your group using a sing-a-long format to screen lyrics and a few memory triggers for a look back into the past. We will visit homes, day care centres across Brighton and Hove.

Planning a big birthday celebration? Celebration Songs for You will rewrite lyrics to a favourite tune as a tribute for your special occasion. Choose between lyrics only, a guide vocal track or a lyric video as shown here.

Lyrics rewritten to the Tune of "We Sail the Ocean Blue" from HMS Pinafore.

Rowen is celebratiing his 90th birthday: a childhood spent in the Kashmir with a rigorous boarding school education, an illustrious career in the navy but with an active life in the officers' mess to go with it! He loves his gardening and keeping his home in good order and is a prolific crossword puzzler, magazine editor, Christian Aid supporter and has an MBE, of course!! This video is for private use only.

Song is sung by The Melody men of Brighton & Hove in the style of a sea shanty.

This tribute to Ginny is based on her many talents and interests, in particular, she is a great train and airplane spotter able to disappear for several days to keep her collection up to date. She laughs a lot and loves her jewellery!!

"Come fly with me to celebrate this day,
It’s Ginny’s anniversary, she is 70 today.
Come fly with me, come fly, we’ll fly away.

Come fly with me, down to the Bluebell Line.
Where steam trains toot, it is such a hoot,
She is having a grand old time.
It’s so much fun, it’s hard to say good-bye.

When Ginny’s out there,
On a mystery railway ride,
Gone for days,
Starry-eyed.
But it doesn’t stop there,
She’s off to Eastbourne town,
Not a frown.
The air show’s here, planes altogether!

Ginny-wise, you love to wear a ring,
Tiaras too, well, wouldn’t you
Add lots and lots of bling.
It’s perfect for our own dear Ginny, so they say.
Let’s celebrate this special happy day!"

Hove Luncheon Club were a great group of people to sing with! We had a last minute change as Eogan hasn't been well and Bettina stepped in very ably. Caroline from the club said:"The Melody Mix (a.k.a The melody Men) were fantastic. The members really engaged with the songs because of the visual clues before each song and because they could read all the words on the screen. With classics like 'Run Rabbit Run' and 'Fly me to the Moon' Graham and Bettina were very encouraging and lots of people joined in. A fun end to a particularly busy day."

MUSIC is the food of love according to Shakespeare, but researchers have found it is also good for your mental health and wellbeing.

The Melody Men are a unique duo who use a sing-a-long format to bring music and fun to older people. We use on-screen lyrics and picture prompts which serve as memory triggers to help our audiences join in as we know that singing and reminiscing can bring a special sense of well-being and togetherness. Eogan our lead singer is experienced in engaging people so there is lots of chat and humour along the way, whilst Graham provides the live accompaniment on the keyboard. Of course, the real stars are the residents and visitors who sing out and share their memories of songs from an era spanning the war years to the 1960s. We know we are as likely to encounter someone with a memory of Flanagan and Allen as well as an Elvis fan!!
