Please be mindful when removing damaged limbs from trees as many of our native species of bat will use cracks, crevices and behind loose bark as their winter roost sites.
If you find a bat or bats while carrying out work please stop and contact the National Parks and Wildlife Services or you can contact Bat Rehabilitation Ireland for advice.
Please remember that all Irish bats are protected under national and EU legislation. Both the animals themselves and their roosts are protected and it is an offence to disturb or interfere with them without a licence.

This month and dedicate all posts to People with Disabilities.
The International Day of People with Disabilities is celebrated annually on December 3rd and was proclaimed by Resolution 47/3, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 18th, 1992.
Its aim is to promote the rights and well-being of people with disabilities in society and their participation in the various social, cultural, economic, and political spheres.
Since 1992, this celebration proposed by the UN, has sought to alert the world to the importance of promoting a greater understanding of disability issues and fighting for the dignity, rights, and well-being of people with disabilities.

The world rests in the night. Trees, mountains, fields, and faces are released from the prison of shape and the burden of exposure. Each thing creeps back into its own nature within the shelter of the dark. Darkness is the ancient womb. Nighttime is womb-time. Our souls come out to play. The darkness absolves everything; the struggle for identity and impression falls away. We rest in the night.
