Season 2017 for Ladakh Frontier Travels was busy but great. At the end of the busy season I had a soothing moment that Ladakh Frontier Travels got this opportunity to thanks Mr Seetoh Kin Meng from Singapore visited Ladakh during 2015 and Mr, Manish Lakhnani from Gujarat (India) a regular visitor to ladakh left some cash with me to donate to the most deserving ones.
This little girl hostel run under the government project KGBV ( kasturba Ganghi Balika Nikitan Vidyalaya) in a remote area on the way to Pangong lake here my wife works as the Warden. I bought 2 huge Carpets of 13x 20 feet and underneath a thick Thermocol insulator which covered the floor of their study room and the dining room. Both these rooms have huge windows with glasses but without curtain we also have provided proper curtain as many as 14 pieces with everything required to fix them.
Once I happen to look into their rented hostel everything looks ok the food was great but the floor was plastered with cement and it definitely turned freezing cold during autumn and Spring without a thick mattresses or carpet etc. It reminds me of my school time when we used to sit with nothing on the floor to sit on, well fortunately at my time we had no uniform so our parents dressed us with local dresses which were made of thick woollen or sheep or goats hide. Later we discussed the issue with my wife she readily asked if I can help. I Said Yes! We sought permission for this initiative of helping the girl hostel from the respective head of the department and Finally we could assure that they will not feel cold at least not from the floor any more. We also think it will last until they are shifted to their new hostel of KGBV…. ………..??? I thank both, Mr, Seetoh Kin Meng and Mr, Manish Lakhani on behalf of all the 16 girl students and 6 Teachers and Warden from KGBV Tangtse.
Best Wishes
From all the students and teachers
