Got rid of all our euros minus 1cent on beer and cider at the airport. Hoping the cider calms my brain a little I've been quite stressed about being on a plane again. Got 2 hours until our plane leaves amsterdam.
We fly to Dubai-Melbourne-Christchurch
Bye bye Amsterdam and Europe it's been a blast. We aren't sailing home don't worry, we just stayed our last night in a pretty houseboat in the canals.

Amsterdam 2: Electric Boogaloo.
We've enjoyed our last few days of the trip back where it started, this included the hits such as:
Suitcases and steep stairwells
Triple Decker beds
Glowing golf balls
And missing the bowling pins
We had a date out at the zoo in Rotterdam. It was surprisingly a huge zoo and was really fun day out. Highlights were the seals, red pandas and the polar bears. The escape artist prairie dogs were my favorite. We could walk through their enclosure so they were super close to us. One gave me a fright when it ran towards me and yelled. There was a sign saying "when you get bit, you will need a tetanus shot".

Update we were meant to head to brussels for a couple days but the trains were buggered and we would of had to take 2 trains and 2 buses to get where we wanted to. So we decided to head to Amsterdam instead. We will be staying in Amsterdam till we fly back to nz. We have a couples nights in a dorm and then we stay in a airbnb houseboat before we fly back.
Conors day out in Copenhagen, plus food pics.
Little update we've been to Copenhagen. I've been unwell so haven't posted sorry (lucy). Conor had a good day out exploring Copenhagen solo yesterday,so he wouldn't miss out on it. I however stayed in bed nice and warm.
We flew to Amsterdam and then caught the train to Rotterdam where we are staying for a couple days. It was a pretty nasty traveling day for us today, with me puking in the airport bathroom (period joys) and a very very bumpy plane landing (meaning I cried like a baby). Conor looked after me throughout my tears, nausea, puking and pain. Hopefully I'll be back to myself tomorrow to be able to continue enjoying the last few days of our trip

You were right, we did get lego! Conor got the Lego house, it's only sold in Billund at the lego house. I also bought some lego daffodils to add to the lego flowers Conor gave me for our 1st year anniversary.

Last day in Lisbon today and we took a trip to Sintra to visit the colourful Pena Palace. Lucy was again met with her mortal enemy, walking up hills. But it was worth it to see the beautiful hill top Palace.we ended the day with Thai food and gelato.
Conors birthday was spent in a windmill airbnb 30 minutes out of Lisbon. The property had an outdoor elevator where we enjoyed a good sunset in a tree house.
We've loved Lisbon so far, lots of pretty colorful buildings and tiles. Lucy is not a big fan of all the stairs and hills, but luckily there's been some great views to stop and look at.
Madrid. Yes we had churros for breakfast everyday

Traveled to Madrid today. We even saw lots of snow on the way.
Went to a cider house in San Sebastian. It was such a cool experience, where you had to catch the cider in your glass coming straight from the barrel. There was maybe 16 massive barrels of cider, all different flavors which we were able to try out. Apart from the unlimited cider they had the most amazing set food menu. I even ate the omelet and I dont like straight eggs so that goes to show how good the food was.
Sadly we missed the last bus home. Plus we couldn't figure out the train ticket machine so we ended up missing the last train too. So we walked an hour, still tipsy, to our hostel. Think it was one of the most unique experiences we've had. Conors special mention is that we got to share a whole baguette which he was very excited about🤣

Barcelona day 2, photos from the evening. We went out to get seafood paella. We went a bit fancy at got a bottle of bubbly too, because it came with a standing ice bucket. We then headed for night beach walk where we played on the playground before heading back.

Headed to Park Guell where we spent a couple hours wandering. From there we went to Casa Batllo, Casa Mila and La Boqueria Market.
Barcelona day 1.
Very tired from waking up at 4am to catch a flight to Barcelona. We walked to the Arco de Triunfo. We then made our way to Taco Alt where I went in 2019 on my first trip to Barcelona. From there was walked around the park awhile before heading back to the hostel to chill out for a while. Went to a nearby vegan restaurant for dinner which was good. Conor and I both enjoying the warmth after spending a week in Wales where it rained everyday.
Went to see another Pantomime, it was Beauty and the Beast this time. Then we finally had a sunny day in Swansea so we went for lunch at the marina with the grandparents. Then it was off to Joe's again for one last sundae. Enjoyed some foccacia and a cornish pastie for our Last day in the UK.
We are flying to Barcelona tomorrow
