Cardamom House is an elegant Swahili-influenced beach hideaway with a feel of a preserved coastal wilderness. Outside the airy house is a large, lovely veranda complete with Swahili-style day beds for lazing. This is the place for quiet, rejuvenative downtime: for swimming, reading a book or just living the soft life.

NB: The Kuruwitu sanctuary often receives whales and dolphins. You could also walk to the local fishing village or drive half an hour to Mombasa for some shopping.
