Whenever my dad taught me Math, he always said, it is ok to memorize the formulae but always understand the basic fundamental principle.

Even if you forget the formulae, you will still be able to derive it through the fundamental principle …

Choose your words carefully, for they:-
😃 Trigger an emotion
🧐 Shape your perception
🔁 Create a feedback loop
✅ Become a self-fulfilling prophecy

Here are some tips to harness the power of words for a positive self image:
🧐 Identify negative thoughts
✋ Challenge negative thoughts
😃 Reframe into positive thoughts
💗 Have a lot of compassion for yourself
🧘 Focus on progress, not perfection - its a journey

For example:
Turn the Negative self talk : "I am going to mess up." into
Positive self talk : "I am prepared for the day. It will be great."

Let’s consciously reframe our words, to cultivate a more positive and empowering inner voice for greater happiness!

"What does she think about me?", was a thought that robbed my inner peace and harmony. If you worry about how others perceive you, then read on ...

In reality she's not thinking about you. Rather ...
She's thinking what you're thinking about her.

It's a human tendency to overthink how we're perceived.
It can lead to anxiety if we stay in the negative thought loop.

Here is a reminder that:
We often overestimate how much others are focused on us.
They are preoccupied with their own lives and worries.

Here's how you can break free from from this loop :
~ Focus on being Present.
~ Be Yourself. Be authentically YOU.
~ Initiate the conversation. They might be waiting.
~ Go on a joy ride. Enjoy your interaction with them.
~ Be interested in them. Everyone wants to share their story.
~ Still worried? Ask them. Maybe they think of you in a positive light!

Try any of the above and see if you feel inner peace and harmony.

Is it really about the poses ?

Let's find out.

Yoga is considered as an exercise that gets your body into different poses.
While that may be true, yet, yoga is much more than that.

Yoga first appeared in the ancient texts, The Vedas.
Yoga is a Sanskrit word derived from its root "yuj" which means union.

Yoga is defined in many ways depending on the context.

On a spiritual level, it is the union of the individual with the Divine, or Supreme Self. The union can be realized through knowledge.

It is a journey to Self Discovery, which begins by quietening the mind.
Yoga is defined as "Yogah Chitta Vritti Nirodhah" meaning 'Yoga is mastery over the mind.'

Yoga is defined in many more ways in the ancient texts, which we can explore gradually.

And it boils down to what kind of thoughts I am thinking in the moment.
For which i need to be self aware moment to moment ...

And the best framework I came across years ago ...
Was the one I heard from Swami Chinmayananda ji ...

🧘‍♀️ Introspect Daily - spend some time with yourself
🧐 Detect Diligently - understand your thought in depth
👎 Negate Ruthlessly - notice all the ways this thinking doesn't serve you
💡 Substitute Wisely - what is a better way to think about it that serves you

Studies show that being compassionate to others not only improves their well-being, but also make you feel happier and more connected to them.

What is it ?

Compassion = Empathy in Action

Feeling that arises when you understand someone else's suffering AND want to help. It's like putting yourself in their shoes and feeling motivated to ease their pain

How can we practice compassion ?

~ Listen actively - what is said, and more
~ Understand their perspective
~ Understand their feelings
~ Help whenever you can
~ Gift them your time
~ Offer a kind word
~ Offer a Smile

I heard someone say … Arti would you …

I stood there for a moment …

Thought this is NOT what I want …
Said to them what I DIDN’T want to say …
And did it ANYWAY what I didn’t want to do …

I was so unhappy at that time …
I felt so disconnected within myself …

But didn’t know why …
Until I heard this statement …

“Happiness is when ...
~ what you think,
~ what you say,
~ and what you do
ARE in harmony.” ~Mahatma Gandhi

I started wondering …

What that really means is …
If any of these are off …
I am not in alignment …
I am not authentic …
I am not truthful …
I am not honest …

It stopped me right in my tracks …

THAT IS NOT WHAT I WANT …
SO I MADE A DECISION …

I WILL DO WHAT I SAY AND SAY WHAT I THINK I WANT TO SAY AND DO.

What really helps me strive for harmony …
Continuous Self Reflection …
Mindfulness practices …
Revisiting my Values …

We all have moments of inconsistency…
However, striving for harmony or alignment …
is a powerful tool for living a happier and more fulfilling life.

Every great idea starts with a light bulb moment …

If you are struggling with a problem …
You need to do something about it …

There is always a solution …

All you need to do is to look for it

Look for it deeply …
You have to want it …
You have to need it …
You have to think about it …

Day and night …

About what ?
No, not the problem …
but the potential solution !!

Now you get it ?

The only reason that you are stuck in the problem …
For so long is because you are stuck in the problem …

You probably never made the “SWITCH” 😉
From thinking 🤔 about the problem …
To LOOKING 👀 for a solution …

Once that light bulb goes ON ….

A regular day…
Or so it seemed …
Well, little did I know…

Walking down a parking lot …
Saw him approaching …
I had heard him before …
I had seen him before …
Now, face to face …

My options…

Should I engage …
Do I look away and escape …

I took my chances …
I made a decision …

I smiled … He smiled …
Exchanged greetings …
He asked my name …

… And that …

One meeting …

Changed my life …
Changed my thinking …
Changed me as a person …
The person I who I was to become …
Changed the entire trajectory of my life…

Was it IN that one moment, IN that one meeting ?
Of course not!

It was BECAUSE OF that One moment, that One meeting …

He was the most instrumental teacher in my life!
My Gratitude to Him! My Salutations to Him!

I was sitting in the waiting room of the dentist office ...
A 3-4 year old was playing with the legos at the table ...
His mother was calling him for something ...
He replied, "Not right now, I am busy!"

Those words stuck with me even as I left ...

"I am busy", we loosely speak these words ...
And wear it as a badge of honor ...

Busyness is seen as :-
~ Feeling of self-worth and Status ...
~ Sign of Importance, Productivity ...
~ FOMO Fear of missing out ...
~ Tied to accomplishments ...

Constantly being on the hamster wheel ...
Not knowing that it leads to ...
Stress ...
Anxiety ...
Burnout ...
Overwhelm ...

Key is to :-
Be honest ...
Set boundaries ...
Focus on Priorities ...
Quality over Quantity ...

What I loved, I began to fear ...
What was joyful, was getting dreadful ...

I have always loved yoga ...
It has been my practice for 20 years ...
And I have even been teaching it to beginners ...

And enjoyed every bit of it ...
The philosophy and the practice...

One day I injured myself ...
And couldn't get onto the mat ...
Couldn't accept that I can't do it ...
Every time I looked at the mat, I turned away...

It felt painful ...

Then it dawned on me ...

The physical practice was out of reach ...
But the philosophy was not...
I began leaning into it ...

I began to embrace the truth of the moment 'Satya'
I began to embrace non-harming thoughts 'Ahimsa'
I began to embrace contentment in the moment 'Santosha'

From that place, I began again ...
I embraced the beginner in me ...
I started building myself again ...

Putting one step after another ...
One stretch ... One pose ... At a time ...

And bounced back.

I have noticed that I often use a pencil to write in my notebook or journal.
It gives me an opportunity to erase and rewrite my thoughts the way I want.

Know that your life story is also being written in pencil.
You have an option to correct your course any time you want.
