Global business jet activity increased by 16% in April compared to April 2019, and by 281% compared to April 2020, the pandemic's low point, according to WingX Advance Business Aviation Bulletin.
Last month business jet departures in Europe reached 60,000, up 35%, 293% and 16% compared to April 2021, 2020 and 2019 respectively. In North America, bizjet traffic was up 13% during the month, compared to April 2019, but slowed to 7% growth in the last week.
Outside these two regions, business jet activity was up 50%. India, Colombia, Philippines, Nigeria, and South Africa all had more than double the activity of April 2019. The three busiest airports were Sao Paolo, Melbourne, and Al Maktoum. The top international connections were between the US and Colombia, and Singapore and Indonesia. Business jet activity in China is declining due to lockdowns, with departures down by 65% compared to last year, down 58% versus April 2019. Hong Kong and Beijing have seen the biggest drops this month.
