On Saturday, I checked off my official first "group ride". I have not ventured out yet with riding on the roads or in a larger group.
Dee and Glen convinced me I could do this ride, so I decided to try it! I was blessed to do it with a group that made it so much fun and welcomed me with open arms.
I met the group at the Fort Fisher Ferry. They rode 10 miles to the ferry, then I joined the group. We jumped on the ferry and headed over to Southport.
We rode around, stopped, learned about some of the local history and soaked in the cooler temps that October brings.
We filled up on brisket and BBQ and a line up of southern sides. I was NOT going to turn in my "southern card" and walk away from the fried okra. I mean if you were born in the south, is that even possible to do!?
I saw gorgeous views that calmed my soul. I knew this day was a blessing in so many ways.
When we finished our ride we gathered at a brewery. The laughter and conversations were flowing. It was so much fun we all decided to keep the day going and met for dinner in Wrightsville Beach.
It was easy, laid back, and genuine. I met strangers at the Fort Fisher Ferry. I came off the Fort Fisher Ferry with friends.
