Location
The Maasai live in the Serengeti plains, the Loliondo area, and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Population
The exact number of Maasai in Tanzania is unknown, but it’s estimated to be around 430,000.
Lifestyle
The Maasai are pastoralists who move their livestock and themselves seasonally. They live in small, semi-permanent huts called « manyattas » made from mud, sticks, grass, ash, cow dung, and human urine.
Language
The Maasai speak the Maa language, which is related to Dinka, Kalenjin, and Nuer. Most Maasai also speak Swahili and English.

The Maasai are known for their distinct traditions, customs, and dress. Men wear red robes called Shúkà, while women wear colorful, beaded clothing. Warriors wear their hair in red-dyed braids.
Diet
The Maasai eat a simple diet of raw meat and raw milk, and sometimes drink raw cow blood during special ceremonies or when they are sick

NGORONGORO A UNDOUBTEDLY ORNITHOLOGICAL PARADISE !
FACTS ABOUT PELICANS !
A pelican’s beak has several functions, including:
*Catching prey: Pelicans use their beaks as nets to scoop up fish and other aquatic creatures. The beak’s hook at the tip helps grab slippery fish.
Draining water: Pelicans can’t fly or eat if their pouch is full of water, so they drain it by tilting their head forward.
Swallowing: Pelicans swallow their prey whole by throwing their heads back.
*Drinking: Pelicans can also use their beaks to collect rainwater.
Herding: Pelicans work together to herd fish into shallow water or smaller circles using their beaks and sometimes their wings.
*Manipulating prey: Pelicans use their beaks to maneuver their prey into a position where they can swallow it.
Pelicans have large, long beaks and large throat pouches that can hold up to 3 gallons of food. The lower jaw of a pelican’s beak is made up of two thin bones that support the pouch.
