🍷Today the World of Wine Column takes you on a trip to Temecula. This lesser-known California wine region is a hidden gem near .

Uncorking this Carter Estate 2014 Sangiovese Private Reserve took me back to my trip to the area last year and a relaxing tasting on the winery's patio overlooking some of its vineyards. It also gave me a chance to transport my friends to Temecula through this wine and the stories behind it I shared.

I picked this bottle for a homemade pizza night and it didn't disappoint. Being an Italian varietal it worked with the pizza. 🙌 Pro tip: local wine and local cuisine are almost always a great pairing.

🍇 I sometimes find Sangiovese a bit tannic, but with 10 years of age this bottle was smooth, supple and dare I say a bit sexy. Even the non-red wine drinker in our group found she actually liked it.

Welcome to The World of Wine column! 🎉

Here, I'll be sharing some of my favorite wines from around the globe. Today, I'm excited to introduce you to the 2019 Mt. Brave Cabernet Sauvignon, crafted by the renowned Napa winemaker Chris Carpenter. 🍷

Carpenter is known for his 100-point wines, which can come with a hefty price tag. However, the Mt. Brave Cab is a bargain for a Carpenter crafted Cab. 🤑

The nose brings to mind blackberries, blue fruits, vanilla and smoke. The wine is structured with noticeable tannins, fruit-forward and acid. It has the hallmarks of a young, though totally drinkable and enjoyable Cabernet.

For those who don't know, Open That Bottle Night was created by the amazing wine couple, Dorothy Gaiter and John Brecher, who started the WSJ wine column. It's a night of great food, amazing wine, and unforgettable memories with friends and family. 🥂

This year, I'm excited to open a 2019 Mt. Brave Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon with my mom and husband. It's a wine we've been saving for a while and I can't wait to finally enjoy it. ❤️

Living in the heart of wine country is a dream come true for any wine lover. And let me tell you, living in the Swiss Valais region was an incredible experience. Who knew Switzerland had such amazing wines?! 🤯

As I tasted the delicious Petite Arvine and Dole, I couldn't help but wonder why Swiss wine is as much a secret as Swiss banking. But as I explored the vineyards and visited wineries, I started to understand the unique culture and history behind these hidden gems. 🍇 And why only 1% of the bottles leave Switzerland.

Living among the vines was a truly transformational experience. I learned so much about myself and gained a new appreciation for the art of winemaking. And of course, I've enjoyed plenty of delicious wine along the way! 🍾

If you're a wine lover like me, I highly recommend adding Switzerland to your wine travel bucket list. You won't regret it! 🌍

🍷🍇 Raise your glasses to the ultimate sommelier showdown at Wrigley Festivin! Master Somm Mark Gallaudet and Master Somm Johnathon Eichilolz went head to head in a wine pairing dinner that had us all on the edge of our seats. 🍴🍷

🍇🍷 The five-course meal was a mouth-watering symphony of flavors, expertly paired with the finest wines. From the appetizer to the dessert, each dish was a masterpiece on its own, but paired with the perfect wine, it was an unforgettable experience. 🍴🍷

The competition was fierce, but in the end, Wrigley's own Master Somm Mark Gallaudet came out on top! His wine picks wowed the diners making this a night to remember. 🍾

Who knew blending wine could be so fun and fascinating? 🤔 At the Festivin wine event
I had the amazing opportunity to attend a Blending Seminar with Master Sommelier Michael Jordan. 🍾🍷

Using wines Jordan shared his expert tips and tricks for tasting and blending wine. I was blown away by how each component of a Bordeaux Blend adds its own unique elements to the finished product. 🤯

But the best part? Getting to create my own blend! 🍷🎨 I played around with ratios of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cab Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec to create my very own Vin Roché original. 😍 A backbone of Cab Sauv, a bit of Merlot and Cab Franc and a dash of Malbec was my fave.

If you're a wine lover like me, I highly recommend attending a blending seminar or wine tasting event to learn more about the art of winemaking and discover new blends that you love. 🍇❤️

🍷🍇🌿 The ultimate wine experience is here! The Wrigley Festivin wine festival has just kicked off with a bang 🎉, and I'm excited to be a part of it. Master sommelier, Michael Jordan, and winemaker, Frank Scherrer, teamed up last night to bring their best wines and their musical talent to the table.

🍷🍇🌿 At the kickoff dinner, I had the pleasure of indulging in six wines, each with its own unique taste and aroma. One of the best pairings was the Matanzas Creek 2022 Sauvignon Blanc, paired perfectly with smoked cauliflower custard. The balance between the citrus notes of the wine and the acidity and the smoky taste of the custard was a match made in heaven.

🍷🍇🌿 This wine festival is a celebration of all things wine 🍷. From the vineyards to the bottles, every aspect of the wine-making process is celebrated. If you're a wine aficionado, this is an event that you cannot miss.
