While many Italians still think that it is an American-revisited Italian recipe, the worldwide-known and delicious Fettuccine Alfredo were actually born in Rome, as a result of the love story of an Italian man, Alfredo Di Lelio, for his wife ✨💖✨
After giving birth to one of his children, Alfredo’s wife was absolutely in weakness. He decided to create something for the occasion to give her strength back: a simple egg-pasta seasoned with double butter, a generous dose of Parmigiano Reggiano... and properly stirred!
During the roaring 20's, American actors Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford fell in love with the dish, with Alfredo, with his restaurant... And spread the voice going back in the US 🇮🇹🗣️🇺🇲
After that, actors, directors, producers, writers, musicians, politicians, anyone who will come to visit Rome will have the desire to taste the Fettuccine Alfredo! 😋
In 1927, the Fairbanks gave to Alfredo a gift that became another signature of the restaurant: a spoon and a fork made of gold, with their names engraved in both of them and with the legend “To Alfredo, the King of noodles”, that are still used as part of the ritual of serving this guilty pleasure.
Have you ever heard of this story?

"Nella vita la bellezza svanisce, nell'arte no."
(Beauty vanishes in life but will always be in art).
Let's prove that Leonardo Da Vinci was at least once wrong! Let's bring beauty in people's lives. Outhentico is against war and stands beside those people who suffer the pain caused by this horror!
The song Somewhere from Bernstein's West Side Story gives us a great hope: "...somewhere will find a new way of living, we’ll find a way of forgiving… somewhere..."

❤️🧡💛There are no words to express our sorrow for this loss. A star in the heart of all the Italians and not only: she was popular in Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela and many other countries in and outside Europe.
A true professional, she represents the history of the Italian TV and lifestyle.

💚💙💜She was among the first ones to talk about LGBTQ issues in her 1978 song "Luca" and would always support the cause in the years to come.

🤎🖤🤍A mother for all of us, Carrà was a spontaneous love giver, with her maternal attitude that she was able to naturally transmit.

🙏🙏🙏Thank you Raffaella for being in this world.

Barley at its best: with clams and mussels. A perfect, summer recipe. So tasty.
Barley was known and cultivated in the Middle East some thousand years before Christ. It was widely used by the ancient romans and was well known in the Middle Age also.

While strolling around Florence, you will happen to find small trucks along the streets or on the corner of some square. These are the original Florentine fast food trucks selling Lampredotto, where bank employees, lawyers, shop assistants, students enjoy their lunch break or afternoon snack.

A fresh, crunchy bread bun filled with thinly sliced tasty Lampredotto, or tripe just to give an idea to those who don't know what we're talking about. The bun is soaked in the succulent cooking broth, then filled with lampredotto, salt, pepper, green sauce and hot chili sauce. Add a glass of red strong wine and Tuscan fast food is served!

Wouldn't you love to try it?

She might not be that famous in English speaking countries but Raffaella Carra’ (born in Bologna, Italy, in 1943) is a walking Legend and an LGBTQ+ icon in Italy, Spain, France and Latin America. Actress, singer, Tv host and personality, amazing stage presence, her career has spanned more than 6 decades. A true showbiz Legend and a National Treasure in both Italy and Spain, where she’s simply referred to as “Raffa” and “Raffaella”. She became a Tv sensation in 1970 when she hosted a popular Saturday night tv show called Canzonissima, with fellow tv presenter the late Corrado. Thanks to her elaborate choreography, mesmerizing themes and unhibited style, she quickly gained press attention and much criticism as well from the Roman Catholic Church for having shown (first time ever on Italian tv) her belly button.
Her one-of-a-kind dance style is unique, particularly her moves.
This tow away sign is a twist on her name: instead of saying “passo carrabile” (tow-away area), the owner of this garage painted a life-size picture of her, caught doing her signature dance move, writing “passo Carrà”.
Long Live Raffaella.

By the way, we found this funny sign in downtown Rome.
Rome (and romans) is a quite comical world apart. That’s why we LOVE it.
