FREE Outdoor Event at the Connecticut River Museum

Jennifer Lee demonstrates her method of bark basket making in an eastern conical wigwam. The wigwam is furnished with accessories of daily life, many of which she makes herself.

Baskets of birch bark, elm bark and ash splints; gourds; clay pots; Indian-tanned furs and hides; clothing of deer hide, wool, and linen; beadwork; ribbon work; quillwork; traditional bow, arrows and quivers; drums and rattles furnish the wigwam.

ICYMI: We are super duper pleased to announce that we are now hosting the first Sylvantide Bicycle Repair Hospitality Station.

This simple repair stand has basic tools and a pump and is accessible during daylight hours in front of the store. It’s use is completely free for cyclists.

Although our future here is very much in question, as long as we’re around we’ll continue serving the community.

Thanks go to and for support, Emily from Essex Hardware for advice, and to several community members that made this project possible.

We’re so grateful for the students from Valley Regional High School for taking a public stand against hate speech and racism in our community.

The only way we can build a better world is through consistent and meaningful action. “Thoughts and prayers” and “with you in solidarity” are essentially meaningless.

What are you going to do to help make sure these young people inherit a planet and a society that isn’t filled with daily mass tragedies?
