Important Pay attention !

If you are an Afghan National that qualifies for a Special Immigrant Visa because you worked for the US Department of Defense or a Department of Defense contractor but have been unable to get employment verification and/or a letter of recommendation, the Department of Defense’s Project Rabbit can help.

Follow these steps:

1. Apply for the Special Immigrant Visa at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/special-immg-visa-afghans-employed-us-gov.html. You must provide all other portions of the application (threat statement, Form DS-157, evidence of nationality, biographic data, copy of employee badge (if available).

2. If you can contact the company you worked for, tell them to contact [email protected] to learn how to provide employment verification to DoD. If you do not know how to contact the company you worked for, go to Step 3.

3. Once you receive a NVCSIV case number, fill out this DoD ASIV Employment Verification Form here: https://app.smartsheetgov.com/b/form/a39f1e20c61c48289c25788d72a9d2e4. If the Department of Defense’s Project Rabbit does not have the employment information for your contractor, they will reach out on your behalf. If Project Rabbit does have the necessary information, they will provide a letter and documentation to the Department of State that will be your employment verification and your letter of recommendation.

Note: This currently only applies to DoD contracts. If you qualify because of work for USAID, Department of State, or other entities, Project Rabbit does not have your information.

Update: Between 3AM ET on 8/23 and 3AM ET on 8/24, a total of approximately 21,600 people were evacuated from Kabul. 37 US military flights carried approximately 12,700 evacuees, and 57 coalition flights carried 8,900 people.

Since August 14, the U.S. has evacuated and facilitated the evacuation of approximately 58,700 people. Since the end of July, we have re-located approximately 63,900 people.
