Spot - Baixa do Filho do Grilhão
Location - Berlengas

In terms of sea life, one of the best dives, huge sea bass, snappers, sea breams, octopuses, big canyons, and holes.
Due to the current, it is a high-difficulty dive.

Spot - Ponte Vale da Ursa
Location - Castelo de Bode Dam

Ponte Vale da Ursa is a special dive spot for the Portugal Dive team because we have been searching this sunken bridge for a couple of years.We had been to the Castelo de Bode Dam twice before, and we couldn’t find the bridge.
Ponte Vale da Ursa, translated from Portuguese “Bear Valley Bridge” was inaugurated in 1885. The bridge was about 20 meters high and was the last section of the Estrada Real (Royal Road) to be built, connecting Tomar to the Sertã municipality.
The construction of this structure dragged on for some years, due to problems with its financing and with the conception of the work itself. Even the inauguration, initially scheduled for November 15, 1884, like our attempts to locate the sunken structure, was delayed twice.
Today, this sunken structure is a fantastic dive, full of surprises, both on the road platform; there’s a car “parked” there, and a small boat, underneath the steel structure that still sustains the platform, or going down close to one of the two pillars that elevate the bridge to over 20 meters high.

Spot - Lago Azul
Location - Castelo de Bode Dam

Located in central Portugal and around 100km northeast of Lisbon, the Castelo de Bode Dam built on the Zezêre River is an exciting alternative to the typical dive.
First, you will dive in an exotic environment on a rural and interior area of Portugal, where you usually wouldn't go. Just for that, it is a worthy dive.
And diving here is also an alternative when the weather doesn’t allow you to go sea diving. The Portuguese divers go there often just for the training.
When you arrive, the car park is just a few meters away from the water and from a small boat docking you can use to set up the equipment and start your dive.
As soon as you descend you will start seeing the old remains of the submerged village when the dam was built back in the 50’s. You can dive through the underwater streets of this typical small village.
The images you are going to see, we promise, are something you will never forget.
In another sector of the dam at a 30mts deep, if you are lucky or if you are diving with us, you will find an old Roman bridge that in distant times was linked to the two margins of the river.
You can expect a quick thermocline when descending from 20º to 14º degrees at around the 10mts.

Spot - Barco das Telhas
Location - Sesimbra

Shipwreck of a small transport vessel. Its cargo was constituted by tiles remains.
It is located at a depth between 55 and 65mts, depending on the tide. Among the tiles that lie in the bottom its possible to find Congers as well as schools of Anthias.
The bottom around the shipwreck is flat but there are small gentle slopes as well as some rocky areas that rise 1 to 2 ts from the bottom, and in which its possible to find nudibranchs of considerable size as well as hard corals. From the wreckage zone in the south direction, there is a wall that extends east-west and sinks to about 80mts. The site of the shipwreck, despite being near the coast, is already outside of the bay of Sesimbra. As such, it is influenced by the proximity to the estuary of the Sado. The visibility in the place varies according to the tide, the depth and the conditions of the sea. We can also expect the existence of strong currents from the East-West direction.

Spot - Baixa da Penedia
Location - Santa Maria

The top of the low is only 3mts deep and goes up to 32mts. This place offers different possibilities of diving profiles and circuits. It is also a great place to practice snorkeling.
Here you can see a big variety of small colored fish such as Queenfish, Octopuses and various species of Moray eel between the cracks and reentrances of the rocky bottom, which is covered with barnacles.
At about 15mts deep, we find an oval cave with some sponges of various colors. Continuing descending along the wall we arrive at a crevice near the bottom where it is usual to see a large Grouper and a school of Jacks, as well as black coral and small shoals of colorful Damselfish.

Location - Sines

Small shipwreck of an iron ship half-buried in the sand, near a stone wall.
The stone wall is full of gorgonians and has a corridor that crosses the rocky massif from East to West.
Lots of fish, nudibranchs and soft corals can be seen here.
