UCL Enterprise Society A hub connecting enterprising UCL students, staff and London start-ups. Mentoring, Events, Careers.

UCL Enterprise Society provides a vibrant and fun community setting to serve as a hub of entrepreneurial activity within the diverse, international student community that makes the University College London unique. We exist to foster entrepreneurial learning by providing opportunities for students and staff to exchange ideas, explore areas of mutual interest and establish networks of relationships

with alumni and the wider scientific and business community. The society plays a leading role in creating synergies between the entrepreneurial aspirations of students and the wider UCL strategy on entrepreneurial activities. The UCL Enterprise Society committee devotes a substantial amount of time and effort for the wider community in a way that visibly enhances the experience of everyone - staff, students and alumni - at UCL. We organise:
London Student Enterprise Hub
Internships in start-ups
Mentoring by start-ups and other professionals

KIIPS is proud to present the first Intellectual Property Workshops Series: Essential Tools for the Successful Entrepreneur. We noticed that we have many budding student entrepreneurs with software or tech-based ideas. Today, entrepreneurs cannot succeed without a firm grasp of the importance of their Intellectual Property. As part of our aim to educate our students and to help them succeed, on the 28th March, we will be hosting a half-day workshop designed specifically to teach student entrepreneurs of King’s College London how to develop a robust Intellectual Property Strategy for their businesses.

We have brought together a team of law students who have been working over the past 3 months to develop a simple but effective syllabus, so that by the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

Identify the Intellectual Property your Business Owns
Protect your Intellectual Property
Commercialise, Monetise and Integrate your IP into your Corporate Strategy

We are very lucky to have Mr Mark Owen (Head of Taylor Wessing’s Technology Department) as well as Mr Frederick Mostert (Past President of the International Trademark Association) to speak during the event and I have included their profiles in the links below. They are distinguished IP lawyers with decades of experience guiding both small and large businesses in IP matters under their belt, who will attend a Q&A panel where you will be able to ask questions on how to effectively handle your business’ IP.

Mr Mark Owen - https://united-kingdom.taylorwessing.com/en/expert/view/london/mark-owen

For decades, venture capital firms followed a standard playbook: target promising startups as they hit their stride and invest up to $10 million or so for a series A round.
