You're officially not supposed to bring in snacks, but we did see a few people eating their own snacks at the outdoor bar.

You have to wear swim hats - so bring some with you or buy at the door.

Too hot for a cappuccino? Try an icy coffee granita instead. Bar San Calisto’s got you covered with a €1 coffee granita. Still a local favourite, even if it’s in every guidebook, this bar has managed to keep its local charm (and prices).

You can get gelato too but the coffee granita with whipped cream is a must!

Love locks in Rome: a modern tradition

Couples from around the world have been "locking in" their love by attaching padlocks to Rome’s bridges — especially Ponte Milvio. The key? Tossed into the Tiber, symbolizing eternal love.

This romantic ritual became famous after a popular Italian novel and film, but it’s stirred debate too — with city officials often removing the locks to protect the bridges.

Have you spotted any of these romantic padlocks in Rome?

Nespole season has arrived in Rome!
You’ll spot these golden-orange fruits on trees and market stalls all over the city in May. But have you ever tried one?

Nespole are called loquats in English. They’re juicy, sweet-and-sour little fruits with a taste somewhere between apricot and citrus. Just peel off the thin skin and watch out for the big shiny seeds inside.

They’re only in season for a few weeks—so grab a handful next time you’re at the market and give them a try! Or better yet pick them straight off the tree.
