The past few days have been eventful. Three of us from West Coast Canyoning—Georgia, Felipe, and FX—traveled to Mexico for a canyoning meet-up called RIC. Unfortunately, due to political issues, the event was canceled. So, we decided to create our own adventure and explore the canyons of Querétaro. One of our main goals was to tackle the renowned Cañón del Infiernillo.
Yesterday, as we reached the third rappel, a member of our international group suffered a broken leg while jumping. I’m proud to share that our team, with support from local canyoneers and other international participants, successfully coordinated her rescue. The entire operation took several hours, but we safely brought her out of the canyon. Our team has received praise for our skill, professionalism, and leadership in managing an efficient and effective rescue. Below is a thank-you note from the injured canyoneer.
On a happy note, we managed to run this 5-star canyon today and were rewarded with a spectacular and fun venue!
Message from the injured Canyoneer to FX:
First I wanted to say that thank you for everything , for taking the leadership of the situation and taking me out of the canyon , I believe I owe you my rescue
You and the others were very efficient to my eyes
And maybe you think oh i could have been done better, but with all things happening language barrier, notice of water, cold water , I think I was a very positive result !
You were an angel to me and I would never forget that 🩵🩵🩵
